I don't have...

A garter
Toasting Flutes
Caking Cutting stuff or
Prgrams

And I'm thinking that I don't really need/want any of this either!! I'll probably go buy a simple garter so FI has something to remove but other than that I don't feel like wasting the time or the money to get the rest of this stuff. Hmmmm.... Anyone else just kind of saying whatever to these last little things that you have to get or do?!?!

Is it May 27th yet so I can stop worrying about all these silly things!!!!

Re: I don't have...

  • We don't have any of those either, except for programs (which I'm hastily DIY-ing). We're not doing a garter toss, nor a champagne toast, and I figure the caterer should have a knife with which to cut the cake. I'm definitely trying to keep things simple these last few days!

same here! Have neither of those stuff either... we dont have a garter toss at the reception, nobody reads programs anyways - will be trashed, flutes and cake cutting are provided by the venue - so why spend more money on those? :)

  • I am defiantly giving up on some little things, we didn't have toasting flutes and I all of a sudden decided I wanted them so I bought them monday.  FI wanted and registered for cake cutting suff otherwise I would have probably found something cheap.  Those things just seem like a waste of money if you aren't going to use them again!  I only broke down and got the toasting flutes because I thought FI and I could toast with them every year to another year.

  • Haha I gave up a while ago....I was unemployed for 6 weeks in February/March, but I had a job lined up and was receiving severance pay, so I just sat around all day and did diy wedding stuff. I don't want to see another sheet of tissue paper or a rubber stamp ever again. I don't think I've touched the wedding stuff since I went back to work in March.

  • If you feel that you "need" any of those things, hit up Joann Fabrics or Michaels or Hobby Lobby. It might not be as special or personalized but you can pick up garter, cake cutting stuff, and glasses there. also printable programs or cardstock to do your own.

me- no garter or toast (both make FI very uncomfortable so we threw them out), cupcakes instead of cake so no need to cut it. and well, my bridal party is just family and we're not doing anything fancy like readings or songs or anything so we just aren't having programs.

Let your life be simple so you can enjoy your wedding, not get caught up in the details. You'll be the only one who will notice if they aren't there. :)

  • We also will not be doing a garter toss, and I skipped the toasting flutes because we are toasting with little glasses of limoncello. I did go out last week and get the cake cutting set at AC Moore with one of the 50% off coupons, so it was under $8. And as for our program, I just wrote it all on a chalkboard and we'll have it on an easel in front of the ceremony spot. All my other little to dos have been getting cut out because I don't really care anymore, we have enough little details!
  • I'm definitely letting some of my original grand ideas slide away.  They're just not that important to me anymore.... funny how my outlook has changed!

  • Same here! We're not doing a garter toss so that was easy to give up! We ordered our glasses when we ordered the glasses for our bridal party months ago. And my mom said she wanted to buy us our cake set so I just let her take care of that!

I am cutting a lot of other things though, mostly due to money! Basically if we don't already have it, we probably don't really need it!

  • I don't have my programs yet... It was supposed to be a DIY project but after making my invites, the idea of getting the glue and paper cutter out still makes me want to cry two months later.

FI wants them though, and my mom bought all of the supplies so I'd feel pretty bad if I didn't make them!
  • My BM are cutting my cake so I bought three $5 sets on Amazon - they actually look pretty nice for the price!!

  • No garter toss here either.  I don't even think we're doing a bouquet toss.  My mom thinks it's weird that we are so eager to throw traditions out the window, but some of them are just dumb! Open your eyes, people!

  • IF any of you are still interested in doing these things, which it sounds like you aren't haha, I got a gorgeous simple and inexpensive garter on etsy that arrived quickly. I also got a personalized cake serving set that is gorgeous and was fairly priced from exclusively weddings! And world market has a ton of different shaped/sized champagne glasses if you want to DIY your toasting flutes.

The little details certainly aren't the most important, but I'm also a firm believer that if you DO want something, you need to have it!

  • I am not doing programs or a guest book.

Our cake baker said she could provide flues and cake cutter, but FI is mushy and wanted our own keepsakes so I registered for them and got them at my shower.

I am not sure if we are doing a garter toss, but I found the perfect garter so will wear that anway.  Its got a plastic holster and little gun in it.  FI is in to guns big time so I know he will get a kick out of it and probably want to keep it himself lol.

We're not doing the garter or bouqet toss either. We did buy some really nice toasting flutes, but only becuase my mother works in that dept at Dillards and got a REALLY good deal on some I LOVE!

We did get the cake set as well, but only because I got it on the 1/2 off wedding blowout  Hobby Lobby.

  • our caterer is providing soething to cut the cake with/toasting flutes, so I am not spending money on those, we are not doing the garter or boquet toss at the reception because I think they are both stupid, we are doing programs, but I just made them on word and will print them out on cardstock, easy and cheap.
