Who is writing their own vows and/or cermony?
Are you writing them with your FI or are you each writing your own and hearing them for the first time at the wedding?
Where are you getting ideas/inspiration?

Greg and I dubbed February our "ceremony" month as we are dovoting ourselves to figuring out the ceremony and our vows. We're writing our own, but that is as far as we've gotten. We also have to plan/write the entire ceremony as our officiant is my uncle who got ordained solely to marry us. It is his first and probably last wedding he'll perform.

We will be writing our own... I havent even thought of when i should start writing...eeek! we will be hearing them for the first time in the ceremony

We're doing the same thing you are, writing the entire ceremony as we're having a friend get ordained to marry us.

I'll probably come up with a rough draft of the ceremony and then get FI's input, because if I wait and try and get his input first, we will be working on it up until the night before! Lol. I've started seaching non-traditional wedding ceremonies to get ideas, but haven't really come across anything that I love yet. I think we'll also each be picking a reading (not biblical, we're having an entirely secular ceremony), one for his sister and one for my SIL, although we have to ask them if they want to be involved first.

I'm not sure about the actual vows part. I would want us each to write our own, but FI can be kinda shy, so I'm not sure if he'll want to do that. I guess we have to sit down and figure it out, heh.

Let us know what you come up with, I'd be very interested to see other self written ceremonies!

We're writing our own vows, and will be hearing them for the first time during the ceremony. I haven't started working on them yet ... I should probably get on that! As for the ceremony, we have an outline (our officiant has been doing this for about 10 years, so luckily she knows what she's doing).

We are writing our own ceremony as a friend of ours is performing our wedding. There's copy in my planning profile.

I searched online for different ceremonies then FI & I pieced together the parts we liked the best to create our own. For readings I pulled together a list of a few that I liked and FI narrowed it down. Right now I think there's 3 in our planning profile but we'll only be using two since we added the tree planting ceremony.

We're also writing our own vows which we'll hear for the first time at the wedding. FI insisted! I'm nervous and excited to hear them! I've been writing down ideas for a while now but have to actually put them together as vows at some point, eek!

We are writing our own, as well as saying the traditional style ones. We will be hearing them for the first time during the ceremony.

I have been unofficially writing ideas in my head, but nothing on paper yet

I figure that does not need to be done until the morning of the wedding, so it's going to be a constant work in progress!

We found some very simple vows online that we are going to use. My mom is marrying us she will add some of her own wording before and after the vows and ring exchange.
