One of my gf's from high school's house burned to the ground a week ago. She's finishing up her last semester at school and was living with 2 other girls renting an old house and there was an electrical fire when they were all out and everything was destroyed, there was nothing left but debris.
Of course she had some insurance through her parents homeowners insurance so she's replaced enough clothes to get by but obviously can never replace her photos, etc. and of course it's an extremely stressful/emotional time for them all.
My other friend and I want to put something together for her. She's coming home next weekend so 1 thought was to take her out for a massage and to get her nails done/something to relax but she's probably going to be so busy she won't have time to do that.
What are some ideas to do for her? I don't really want to do gift cards b/c she doesn't need money, we just want to do something to acknowledge and try to help.
Re: NWR-What would you do?
[QUOTE]Would she have had high school memorabilia with her at her current home or still at her parents? If she lost photos and stuff from that time-frame i'd go through all my photos (and get mutual friends to do the same) and make copies of any that had her in them, or that she might like to have to help recreate some of the non-tangible stuff that was lost. Do you have any kitchen/household stuff that you would be willing to give her to get her started again? Otherwise, just take her out for a drink and let her vent about how much of a PITA it is to have to rebuild/rebuy/replace etc...

<div>I'm pretty sure most of her high school stuff stayed at her parents fortunately. I think it's mostly college friends that her pictures were with that were lost--I wish I knew them to be able to put an album/scrapbook together. </div><div>I like the idea of getting specific items she may need though to make it more personal like necessary household things. I'll have to check with her mom to see what kind of stuff she needs.</div>
Can you contact her friends on FB that have her school listed and see if they ahve any photos? You can set up a photobucket account or something and ask people to upload them there so she can try to recover those.
I also agree with a target giftcard. It can help her repalce a lot of things, or BBB.
