QOTD 7/16

Are wearing something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue?  What are you wearing for each of these?

Are you following any other fun traditions?

I started to...my e-ring's main stone is a sapphire, so that was my something blue.  I used a handkercheif that was my grandmothers (as my something old) and a handkerchief my MIL gave me when we got engaged (my something new) and had those both wrapped together around my bouquet handle.

Then I forgot to borrow anything.

    Something new: Wedding dress
Something old: Diamond earrings my FMIL gave me
    Something borrowed: Not sure yet
    Something blue: garter

Also, my mom and FMIL REFUSED to let us get married on the hour, we have to get married half past. It's an old tradition that it's good luck to get married when the minute hand is going up. My mom said she knew it was silly, but she couldn't shake the tradition and wanted us to follow it. FMIL agreed, so we agreed. Getting married at half past 4 in the afternoon.

I didn't do this.  My shoes were blue, though.  Everyone kept going, "They're you're something blue!" but I really just got blue because they matched the BM dresses.

Haha, I think this will happen to me.  I plan on wearing blue shoes as well, but not following the old, new, borrowed and blue tradition.  I asked my sister to borrow her veil for the wedding, and I got the "OMG for something borrowed!!!!!"  Nope, it's because I am too cheap to buy one.

And our ceremony is set for 5:30pm, and the wedding planner told me it is good luck.  Not sure why, but whatever.

LOL about being to cheap to buy one.  I know how that goes!

And, I do know why it's good luck... apparently you're supposed to get married anytime the minute hand is moving up (so like, :30 to :00).  Why that's good luck is beyond me!

Old:  My great-grandmothers brooch in my bouquet.
    New:  Dress, etc.
Borrowed:  A french perfume of my mom's.
Blue:  I had "I do!" in blue on my underwear. :)

And I even had a sixpence in my shoe!!!    Although this tradition is silly, I think it's a lot of fun. :):)
