walking down the aisle music

So originally I was going to go the classic route of canon in d for my bridesmaids and then here comes the bride for me. but then I heard the instrumental version of bittersweet symphony by the verve and now I think I want everyone to walk down to this song...what do you ladies think

Here is the version I'm talking about  <--- clicky

is it a terrible idea?

I definitely like it, could you use it as the recessional instead?

I like it as well, and I totally think it is a great idea.  I like the thought of something different and more personal.  I walked down the Aisle to an instrumental version of "Forever Young"  the original by Alphaville.

There is just something about "Here comes the bride"  that makes my skin crawl.

I love it... but think it might work better as recessional music.

Sorry to be a hater, but I can only picture the movie Cruel Intentions as well!  Not a huge fan of that song, personally.

Check out these guys that play popular music or classical music.  You may get some other ideas.  I was going to hire them for our wedding, but ended up using some of our band members for the ceremony.

This also reminds me of a movie.  Not Cruel Intentions, but I can't remember which one it was.

I also feel like the name "Bittersweet" and the lyrics "I can change" are not suitable for a wedding ceremony.  I know the version you're talking about is instrumental, but if people know the song, they'll know the lyrics.

"Bitter Sweet Symphony" - in addition to the downer lyrics and the fact it reminds too many people of Sarah Michelle Gellar's face when her coke-filled cross pendant is discovered (add me to that list!) - samples the Andrew Oldham Orchestra's version of a Rolling Stones song, "The Last Time." I know it's a stretch, but it's probably not a good idea for your wedding to be connected to a song with lyrics like these.

Well I told you once and I told you twice
But ya never listen to my advice
You don't try very hard to please me
With what you know it should be easy

Well this could be the last time
This could be the last time
    Maybe the last time
I don't know. Oh no. Oh no

Well, I'm sorry girl but I can't stay
    Feelin' like I do today
It's too much pain and too much sorrow
Guess I'll feel the same tomorrow

Well this could be the last time
This could be the last time
    Maybe the last time
I don't know. Oh no. Oh no

Well I told you once and I told you twice
That someone will have to pay the price
But here's a chance to change your mind
'Cuz I'll be gone a long, long time

Well this could be the last time
This could be the last time
    Maybe the last time
I don't know. Oh no. Oh no
Well, this could be the last time

Most people probably wouldn't make the connection between the Stones song and "Bitter Sweet Symphony." And of course, you can always keep it instrumental. But still. Coke-filled cross pendant.

I am walking with my Dad to hawaiian version of Somewhere over the Rainbow.

I guess it is all a matter of personal taste :)

    Somewhere over the rainbow
    Way up high,
    There's a land that I heard of
    Once in a lullaby.

    Somewhere over the rainbow
    Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
    Really do come true.

My FMIL hasn't really given her opinion much on anything in the wedding, but she begged me not to use "Here Comes the Bride"! LOL

I used bittersweet symphony for my recssional and walked down the aisle to a vioiln verson of chasing cars by vitamin string quartet!

I am hoping to use 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' also, I think it is a great song-I hope the church will allow it.....

Bittersweet Symphony doesn't do it for me, but it works for others...
