In tears, please help!

I haven't been on TK in a while. We had decided to go to Vegas so that we could do away with the planning of a wedding. I now find myself back in NC for our wedding and absolutely nothing in place. I've been at the computer all day. I am in tears because I am so overwhelmed. Our wedding is November 12th 2011 and I don't even have a venue picked.

I've been reading previous posts to see if I saw a venue I like. No luck. Please toss out some options as far as venues go. We are looking at the Wilmington and Raleigh area.

Also, I just found out that the photographer that I just knew I had to have, isn't going to be available. I am completely crushed. It shouldn't be this hard.

I asked him yesterday if we could just go to the courthouse and get married because I am so stressed out. He said no because he knows it isn't what I really want.

I'm pulling out my hair over here. Don't let me go bald ladies!!!

I would love to help. You should contact Aj Dunlap for the photographer. I used Serendipity design for my flowers and she was amazing.
If you are using a dj.. Anything Music is great.
What size venue are you looking for?

You have 5 months to pull it all together which is completely doable!

Make a list of the things that need to get done in the next few weeks and focus on those first.  Don't let it get you worked up that your favorite people are booked. That's going to happen and you can't control it.

If you get married in Raleigh I would suggest our florist which is Tre Bella and I really liked our DJ; Tim Hazell. He's newer so not as well known but his prices are good and he did a great job.

As far as venue what kind of place are looking for? Budget? Number of people?

We are having between 30-50 guests. We would like to see the budget stay around $6,500 $7,000 but will raise it if we have to. Also, we would prefer Wilmington over Raleigh.

We know who we want to do the cake.
I have my dressed picked out.
One of my Fiance's clients owns a local greek dining place and we will most likely be using him for catering.
We will be having a candy buffet and will use little engraved jars to be filled with candy as favors.

I have no idea about flowers, decorations, locations, hair/make up artists... :(

Don't worry!  You can totally do this in that much time.

Ask your restaurant friend where they've catered before.  Start looking into local parks for locations.  Are there any small local movie theaters or bowling places you could rent for a fun, fairly inexpensive, location?  Flowers really don't have to be stressful, you can tell a florist what your colors are, how many and what size arrangements you'd like, and they should be able to come up with the rest.  Or you can DIY flowers for hardly any $ and they'll look great.  So many people get married in Wilmington, google can help you find blog posts about lots of weddings there.

Don't worry, there's plenty of time! One of old friends from elementary school planned her wedding in about the same amount of time as you have and she had a big, traditional wedding with 100+ guests. It sounds like you've got a far more managable guest list, which means less money spent, less time spent on DIY projects, etc. I know this sounds crazy, but try to relax.

It sounds like you're leaning more towards Wilmington, so I would take some time (and a glass of wine ;) ) to browse over the wilmington board and see what suggestions have been posted there, and see if you can PM brides who have had wedding down there. The wonderful thing about beach/near the beach weddings is that the scenery is so beautiful, you probably won't have to do anything crazy time or money intesive with your flower/decorating budget to make it all come together.

    Good luck with your planning!

I can relate to your situation.  I was to get married in Vegas and a week before the wedding my fiance called off the Vegas wedding..We are now getting married in July.

My best friend's daughter got married in Wlimington and it was great She had a church wedding at St Paul's Lutheran Church and Cape Fear Valley Country Club..  Another friend used Airle Gardens and that was beautiful.

Take a deep breath, you have plenty of time. As a wedding photographer I have had brides contact me a month before their wedding. In fact I just booked a wedding for November last weekend. Try not to look at everything you have to get done as one lump total, instead make a list of the individual item and start crossing things off. Good luck.

Don't fret! You can do this!

I went a couple of summers ago to a small-ish wedding in Wilmington that had the reception here:

It's the Community Arts Center, inside the old USO Building, so it's got a cute charm about it. Prices seem reasonable, and it's a pretty central location to the area (if you wanted to have like, a beachside ceremony, or what have you.)

</div><div>I did my entire wedding for under $7000 so it's completely doable.  Our venue was the Surfside Center on Topsail, just outside of Wilmington.  We had 54 people attend and it was the perfect amount of space!  And you couldn't beat the price, especially considering it was oceanfront :)

You could always do it at the beach. Most beaches do not require a license. Anything Music is what we're using as our dj. Dont fret. Everything will turn out as planned. (:
