Wedding Colors

Which way does a bride and groom go when choosing wedding colors? Traditional seasonal colors (for example, I'm getting married in the Fall, so should I choose colors to match the season), or colors we both want? I am leaning toward the latter, which are shades of purple, blue, and ivory.

Any suggestions?

I think purple and blue and ivory would be fine for fall, the purple looks quite rich which makes it more appropriate for fall or winter :)

  • Personally, I'd pick my colors regardless of the season. But if you're even asking if you should be concerned about the colors matching the season then I think you're wanting to match, which as toothpastechica pointed out, your colors definitely do :)

  • Thanks, ladies! I appreciate your help! Laughing
  • I picked pink because it's my favorite color and green because we got married on St. Patty's day.

  • To be honest I had such a hard time settling on wedding colors. Yes the season is slightly important, but purple in September will be okay especially depending on where you live. The only thing that I'm trying to take into account is your surrounding colors in your venue everything should flow okay.
The best of luck to you! Smile
  • I'm getting married in the fall as well and I went with a combo of my favorite color and a fall color, a darker royal bue and burnt orange.

  •  I let DH pick the colors, because my friend was married 11 before us & used the color I had chosen.  I didn't want to "copy" her, so I let him pick.  He did well in choosing black, white, & red.  Looking back, we could have gone with our favorite colors of dark blue & dark purple, adding dark green & dark red, going with a jewel tone theme.  I don't think you have to goe with a seasonal color scheme.
  • I agree about using the colors my fiance and I like. I don't have set shades of each color but a combination of shades of the three colors we're using. Thanks again for the responses. You ladies are great!Cool
