XP: Flower budget??

I am beginning to get a little stressed. Next week FI and I are headed back up to MI and are trying to get wedding stuff done. We are meeting with 2 florists and our officiant all on one day.  I am very nervous about the florist appts. FMIL seems  to have a lot of..ideas. Things that I think are going to end up costing me a lot of money and that I don't really think we need. I've talked to FI about how important it is for us to go into the appointments with a budget and stick to it..problem is I have no idea what is reasonable.  Obviously I know that prices depend a lot on location and what kind you are doing, I guess I am just curious about what you ladies are spending (if you are willing to share)

A bit of background on my situation..
We're getting married outdoors, on a lake.  We may  need a few things outside but hopefully not too much. Reception is indoors at a banquet center. We're doing centerpieces on our own..no flowers.  We've got 5 BM, 5 GM, our 4 parents, 2 grandparents and no FG or RB.  Plus obviously FI and I.  Colors are charcoal gray, navy and yellow. BMs are wearing gray and I'd like mostly yellow flowers for them.  I guess I'm HOPING to spend around $800-$1000 on flowers. Is this feasible?  I have no idea what people normally spend on flowers!! Help!

I for sure think you can manage with that budget. I just looked at my flower quote and subtracted out all the costs for the reception decor (I am NOT DIY so our quote included 22 centerpieces, flowers for the stairway, head table and escort card table) and it totaled out to less than $700. My wedding party is exactly as yours (I subtracted the $5 for the flower girl petals too) and that quote still includes a decorated wire archyway for the ceremony. I think you can do it. Good luck!!

I think that is COMPLETELY realistic, depending on the florist you use.  I'm getting 7 bridesmaid bouquets, my bouquet, 2 corsages, 10 boutennieres, cake flowers, 11 short centerpieces, 11 tall centerpieces, and a head table arrangement....for $1800.  Take away all those centerpieces, and you're golden!  I'm using April Oboza of April Irelynn Design.  She's great!

I absolutely think your budget sounds reasonable.

    We had the following:
    My Bouquet
    3 BM bouquets
    1 FG bouquet
    5 corsages
    10 bouts
20 centerpieces (mostly vase and mirror rentals, along with candles, red roses, and rose petals)
    2 Alter arrangements
    5 extra vase rentals
Rose petals for the escort card table and cake table

Including delivery, set up and tear down it was around $1,800.  We went with Nicki Crosby with Lasting Touch. I was a little disappointed in a few details, however I also should have confirmed everything 2 weeks prior, instead of assuming she had it all recorded down to the last detail.

I think that is a totally feasible budget!  We are doing bridal bouquet, tossing bouquet, 4 BM bouq., 5 bouts for Groom/GM, 4 bouts for Dads/GPa/Bro, and 7 coursages for Moms/sister/Grandmas/Godmother.  I have received 4 quotes that are about $500-700 after labor fees.  A lot of it will come down to what kind of flowers you are planning on and your florist should be able to sugguest flowers that will acheive the look you are going for but are in your budget

    I have the following:
    My Bouquet
    9 Bridemaids
    2 Jr. Bridesmaids
    9 Groomsmen
    2 Jr. Groomsmen
MIL & FIL bout & coursage
    My parents bout & coursage
    28 Centerpieces

I will be spending approximately $3,000 for everything!!!

From what you are looking for, it seems that you are right in your pricerange for prices and have a realistic idea of what it is going to cost.

I went with Westbourne Market and worked with Alysonne and everything was PHENOMENAL!

Sounds like you are wary of the FMIL.  Just remember, she is allowed to voice her opinion on what she thinks you should have (because you don't want to disrespect her) but in the end, you are paying for the flowers and have the final say.  Just make sure that you and your FI are on the same page for this BEFORE you go to the appointment.  It would be a tough situation if you get there and he just wants to go with whatever she says.

Good luck flower shopping and remember: You will ony do this once so soak up EVERY minute! Cool

I agree with this.  Maybe find some pictures and write down your ideas, and bring these with you to the meetings?   This will help steer the direction of the meetings towards your vision.  Be up front with your ideas, and there is less of a chance FMIL will voice opinions that are in the complete opposite direction.

One piece of advice I would give you, is be prepared for the florist to come back with a quote that is very close to the budget you give them.  I gave our budget to a florist at our first meeting, and her quote was literally $5 less than what I told her was my max budget.  For a meeting with a different florist, I didn't give a budget and instead told them what my vision was, and let the florist come back with a quote.  This quote was much lower.

    Good luck!!

Thanks ladies for all the good advice.  I'll be interested to see the differences between  the 2 florists. Hopefully we like one and are able to book! I'll be sure to update afterward and let y'all know how it went!

If you are not really picky about types of yellow flowers, you could consider the Costco wedding package. I ordered it in white, but they have other colors of roses. The 20 piece package for yellow roses is $429. They really are willing to swap stuff out for you, you could have the 3 centerpieces substituted for 3 BM bouquets so you'd have enough. The "1 petal rose bud" is actually a small bouquet of about a dozen roses and you could use them for additional bouts or corsages if you needed more than the 6 of each.

My flowers were GORGEOUS! Their reviews are amazing. You can see the bouquet I got to carry in my pic below. They put pearls inside the buds of almost all the roses in all the bouquets and bouts. Really a nice deal. If you want more info, just PM me.
