The good, the bad, and the ugly of the weekend

The good:  After a rough week last week with FI's job disappointment, it turned into perfect timing that my parents went out of town.  My brother is rarely home so FI and I had the house to ourselves most the weekend and just had some good quality time.  It seemed to keep us positive and just felt really nice to laugh and forget for a little about the hardships he's having to finding a job.

The bad:  I was supposed to have a final on Saturday that was open online from 1am-11pm.  At 9am I see an email from someone in my class saying the exam wasn't up yet and could anyone see it.  Someone replied they had been trying to get in since 1am and emailed the prof with no response.  The entire day my whole class emailed back and forth "anyone see it?  anyone hear from the prof?"  NOTHING.  So last night at 8:30PM she finally sends out an email saying "The final is up now you have until tomorrow at 11pm to do it.  THere were technical difficulties."  No apology.  No "let me know if this is a problem."  No real concern.  And technical difficulties?  I guess you were the only person who couldn't sign in and you had no way to email us whatsoever to let us know what is going on.  I was fuming.  I have an A in the class and am sure I can do well on the final but I work all day today and have a test in my other class this week so was not scheduling to have to take a 3 hour test tonight.  I replied to her saying that this is in line with the course schedule and it is unreasonable to expect that people don't have other committments.  And that while technical difficulties aren't her fault, they aren't ours either and since we didn't receive prompt information it shouldn't burden us.  Of course she hasn't responded (there have been a few unanswered emails from her already this semester) so I'll probably have to take it and sacrifice studying for my other class but I promise you she'll get a scathing evaluation.

The ugly:  Have my period this week and my cyclical ance I get is out of control.  Just want to hide my face this week!

  • That's rediculous that she  just expects everyone to clear their schedules the following day, on one day's notice, because of 'technical difficulties'

Looks like not even a full day's notice! I'd be fuming too.

I hope you do well on this and your other class finals too. That really sucks.
  • Thats really crappy that that happened. If I were her I would at least shorten it. I sort of recall having something similar happen when i was in college, and I think thats what the professor did, as a way of apologizing.
  • I know that I haven't been posting on this board. But I just had to respond to this. If your whole class goes to the dean then something may be done about this. Additionally I'm sorry this happened to you.

  • Wow.  That totally sucks about your class and your prof being unapologetic.  I get that the final was online, but she should have been available to answer questions or warn of technical difficulties at the beginning, so it could have gotten fixed right away.

I hope the rest of your week goes better.  You've been having a lot of sucky stuff going on.  :(
