Attending the Macy's Registry Event TONIGHT

Okay! I have my style board designed for my groom and my Martha Stewart registry checklist printed out. Any other tips for attending our first registry event at Macy's tonight? We both are still living with our parents so we will need everything! We are so excited.

Re: Attending the Macy's Registry Event TONIGHT

  • Not sure if you have registered anywhere else already, but my advice is: wear comfortable shoes. You don't want to let achy feet distract your decision making.
  • If you're going through Macy's checklist, you should be OK. We had our own checklist, and ended up going back and forth and back and forth around the store because it wasn't organized by department. I guess I second the wear-comfortable-shoes advice. I wore heels and liked that they forced me to just stop, though.

    Notes on Macy's:
    1. There can be a big difference between what's available in-store and what's available online, especially for smaller items (kitchen gadgets, table linens).
    2. They have great sales, which is good and bad. I registered for the cheapest pillows in the store (which were still 3x what I've ever spent on a pillow). I didn't realize they were on sale. I'm not sure I'd have chosen them at full price. Now they're on sale again, so, mabye no biggy. (My registry is sort of make-believe right now because only Mom and my fiance know about it.)

Because I don't want any single gift on my registry over $100 (sets over $100 are OK - a piccadillo of mine), I update my registry each week, removing things no longer on sale, adding things on sale.
  • Pick a section and start small. For example my FI and I only worked on Bath stuff the first time we went. There's so much stuff it can be overwhelming.  We also have short attention spans so we only did an hour and a half max. Snacks might help haha.

As far as prices go, like PP said Macy's has some great deals sometimes. We usually found that Macy's sale prices were the exact same as Bed Bath and Beyond prices. When this was the case we usually removed the item from Macy's and put it on BBB because I think more people would shop there and get coupons. Plus I didn't want people to catch Macy's on a non-sale time.

  • Thank you ladies! We had fun! I wore comfty shoes. It did get to be a little overwhelming towards the end. They had a lot of the brand sales people there, we found them to be really annoying since their opinions were so biased. We really enjoyed the help from Macy's staff though. So fun!
