Ugh..... Tuesday night and I'm faced with the decision of celery with lite cream cheese or carmel popcorn drizzeled with chocolate and I of course decided to eat the..... popcorn! Yeah, bad Sarah, but I just can't help it! What is the best motivating factor to not choose the stuff thats bad for you?? I know I just shouldn't buy it but I have a hard time throwing food away that isn't spoiled and I purchased this devils treat prior to my decision to slim down. Just looking for some encouragement and advice. I should also mention that my FI is stationed overseas and I live alone so some nights can be depressing (like tonight)

Thanks Ladies!!
Re: Bad Decisions....
I'm a WW member and I had a bad day myself. But my leader preaches that you have to have the stuff you love like the Carmel Popcorn.
My advise to you is what I'm giving myself, the next few days be more concious of what you eat, and maybe set aside a treat day where you can have one really bad thing.
That has to be tough to have your fiance over seas. And I can understand how you can get sad and turn to food. Maybe treat yourself to a movie, or a buble bath, or a massage, or a manicure or something along those lines when you are feeling sad.
Good luck and I'm sure you will do fine. don't beat yourself up about the carmel popcorn.

Also previous to my current relationship, I was in a four year relationship with a guy in the navy. I remember what those nights can be like. Hang in there though and you will get to see him soon enough. And hopefully be healthier and more in shape the next time he sees you too!

This way, when you're debating between the celery and popcorn, you can have a few nibbles of popcorn to satisfy that urge, and keep up with your healthy snack by eating the celery afterwards. Or, if it's more motivation, eat the celery first knowing that you can have say 7-10 pieces of popcorn afterwards.
Just make sure you aren't reaching for the popcorn every day. You could also bag a serving of the popcorn and write on it a specific day, maybe you feel extra lonely on a Fri night b/c you used to go out to dinner, grab a good movie and your single popcorn serving and indulge, but the other 6 days out of the week you eat you rhealthy snack.
A diet where you don't allow yourself that foods you love is one that's bound to fail. A lifestyle change that embrases moderation might get you to your goals a bit more slowly, but you'll almost certainly be a happier person when you get there.
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
