AW Thursday

AW: 10 Day Forecast!!!!

High of 96 with a 30% chance of rain? I'll take it for now.

Re: AW Thursday

  • That's a pretty good forecast for July in Texas!

I don't really have anything to AW.  CW just text me to tell me that her brother died late last night, and if I'm not mistaken, he was the last remaining family member she had.  She is devastated, and I feel awful for her. :(

H wants concert tickets for his b-day SO bad.  I looked into it and the concert is at the Gexa at Fair Park... ugh, outdoors in August?  I friggin' hate that venue.  So how pathetic would it be if I bought tickets at an indoor venue in San Antonio just to avoid going to the Gexa and sitting in the summer heat?

I don't think that'd be pathetic. You could maybe make a weekend trip out of it!

I don't think it'd be pathetic.  Good excuse to get out of town.  I hate the Gexa too, or Smirnoff, or whatever it is called.  :)  I have no AW's.  No clue why I woke up before I had to.

  • I'm flying to Houston tomorrow!  I'm very excited to see some of my college friends.  =)

I got to meet my neighbors yesterday.  We got to just sit out in front of our houses and watch all the fireworks being set off around us (and they had plenty to set off, too).

<div>Haha, I still call it "Smirnoff" or "Starplex" most of the time.  That place has changed names too many times.  People who have lived here any amount of time know what you're referring to no matter what name you call it, lol.</div><div>
</div><div>See, the concert at the Gexa is on a Friday (convenient).  In San Antonio, it's on a Wednesday.  Ugh.  I don't know if I could pull it off.  But I really, really love A/C. THIS IS SO FLAME-WORTHY.</div>

  • No AW here . Not looking forward to this 12 hour drive back to Dallas. Good news I will have both my girls for the rest of the week. Tomorrow afternoon we'll go bridesmaid dress shopping. Amy I say get the tickets and go to San Antonio. I think that would be much more fun.

  • Have fun dress shopping, kt!  Ugh, 12 hours in the car... I am not envious of you.  I always felt like the 5-6 hours to Lubbock or back was more than I could handle.  I drove to St. Louis once.  Never again, never again.

    I win this contest!
24 hours moving FI to Los Angeles and then a year and a half later 24 hours to move him back! (granted coming back was a lot more enjoyable, mostly because we had just gotten engaged).
  • I'm definately not a good traveler. I get really cranky. We drove from Ft. Lauderdale back to Dallas with 5 kids with us. That is a never again! All girls too. I think that was somewhere around 1618 hours.

  • Oh also, I want to give a short review of the unique wedding we went to in San Francisco.
They are both in their mid thirties, first marriage, and super earthy and very much no frills.
They got married at a winery on Friday, very intimate ceremony, about 15 people total. The next day they had a BBQ at this winery (huge rental home) and all day we cooked out, shot the potato gun (klassy), drank wine, and just sat out in the beautiful weather for 12 hours hanging out. I think everyone that was invited to the reception was invited to the bbq, but a lot less people came. Mostly the OOT guests came.
Sunday evening at a B&B was the reception, with around 150 people, a nice outside sit down dinner and lots of dancing. FI and I stayed at the B&B with the families and some other close friends and we had a big breakfast the next day for whoever stayed there.
It was REALLY cool because they really spent an entire weekend celebrating with all of their OOT guests, and especially at the BBQ they were able to really visit and celebrate all weekend long.

If we had gone to this wedding earlier, FI and I may have planned something like this. It just seemed so cool that they really celebrated all weekend and really spent time with all of their guests.
  • cwaggoner -- that does sound like a good wedding! I love things like that! We tried to host as many events for OOT guests as we could without going broke, but they certainly weren't fancy. (Our "morning after brunch" was downstairs at the free Holiday Inn Express breakfast buffet, haha.)

I woke up in the middle of the night feeling sick ... and immediately thought "I read a while back on TK that the flu is going around! I bet I have the flu!"

If it wasn't for this board, I'd have been way more freaked out (thinking I had food poisoning probably). I can deal with the flu.

Angelsong, I think a SA trip sounds fun! FI and I have been dying to make a trip there ever since we both turned 21 and can really have some fun on the Riverwalk!

I'm also a terrible traveler. We only had a short trip down to San Marcos and back and I was miserable. Then again, we were 5 people in a very small car, and we started the drive back almost immediately after hiking and ziplining, which was fun, but also left us very hot and tired and sweaty.

I went to a car dealership yesterday, just to kind of get a feel for the experience, and I have to say I think I handled myself pretty well for my first time dealing with salesmen. Going today to apply for a loan, and hopefully I can be in my own car again soon, rather than having FI, my mom and my grandparents all have to cart me around everywhere.

  • Been on the road for 5 hours. So far not too horrible. Thank god for iPhones it has kept me entertained. My oldest just informed me she doesn't want to get dresses at a Bridal store. This should make for interesting shopping. I don't mind getting them elsewhere because they are 17 and 20 years old and I get they want a younger look. Google here I come.

  • Matron of honor and I went to trade days in Canton, TX this past weekend and picked up all 4 bridesmaids dresses. It literally took us 2 hours to get them all. And we only paid between $22-$40 for each one. Holy moly I am proud! Also, my sister-in-law made my flower girl dresses for approximately $7 a peice. I am a bride of a budget! :)

  • My AW is that today is the final RSVP day! I have about 75ppl that haven't RSVP'd so Saturday will be my day to split up the list and call people. My mother is just beyond herself with frustration that her friends haven't replied...this amuses me :)

Sad part of the day is FI got a fever yesterday of 102 continuing onto today...he's the biggest baby when he's sick. He's lucky I love him. And if I'm lucky I'll get off work early today, woot!

Casey- those dresses are seriously awesome!
Amy- I don't think I'd sit outside in August. Way too hot!
Cwagg- 2 weeks and I'm so excited for you!

In Iowa they not only sell beer and wine in grocery stores you can buy liquor in the grocery stores. I really miss that about home. I could go to Walmart and get everything. Heck I used to buy vodka at CVS.

  • Carrie - wow 10 days! So exciting! :-) Amy - FI saw your siggy and laughed hysterically lol I took off today to handle some WR things and during our errands FI and I stopped at an apartment. The place doesn't take my dog's breed (i have a boxer) and the sales agent's response was "Can you get rid of it?" I looked shocked and she proceeded to ask me how long I've had him. When I told her 5 years she says "Ohhh you're pretty attached huh" WTH?!
