dream dress dilemmas.

I like my dress. I really do. I love it. It was my dream dress. But now, there is another dream dress, that may be even more dreamy than the first dream dress. Heres my dilemma; the first dream dress is like 9 on the 1 to 10 dream scale, and the second dreamier dream dress is a 10 on the 1 to 10 dream dress scale, but its a lot more expensive and means cutting in other places. I don't know what to do! What is more important really? Cutting from the invitations budget to buy dreamier dream dress, or just going with what I already planned... Ahhh.

    Did you already buy Dream Dress #1?  If so, then it woudl have to be REALLY important in order to drop the cash on another dress.  Is the difference between a 9 and a 10 worth the extra cash and also having an extra dress to you?  Afterall, you will only be wearing it for one day? 

    However, on the other hand, it is your wedding dress, so I think you really need to have a gut check:  how important is this new dress to you?  If you think you will regret not buying it and be unhappy about it, maybe consider it.  (but only consider it IF you can really afford it!!).  No putting wedding dresses on credit cards.  Who wants to start their new life with new debt?

    are there any alterations you could make to dress 1 that would make it a 10?  or even an 11?

    Well, the plus here is that they are both from Davids Bridal. They will let me return dress 1 as long as dress 2 is more expensive, which it definitely is. Dress 1 needs no alterations, but dress 2 would need to be hemmed for sure. So really, its all over more expensive. I need to ponder the situation. I think dress 1 fits my personality best, and is most like something I would wear, but for whatever reason I have this dress obsession about this other one. Its just pretty. Can't get it out of my head. And of course, when I look to FI to tell me not to spend more money, he tells me to spend whatever I need to feel happy and beautiful (Jeez, thanks hunnie, for choosing now to be supportive of me spending more money on something Smile) I think I just need to forget about it. See, this is like dress envy therapy. There I go. I'm just going to forget it exists. I need to stop looking at dresses. No more dresses.

    First one was $300, second one is almost a thousand. Big jump.

    FYI, I got an email from DB today saying their $99 sale starts on March 6th... maybe your dress will go on sale :-/

    Hmm I agree with pp can you post pictures? Or at least links, since I don't think you can save pictures from their web site.

    If it was me, and I still loved dress #1, I probably wouldn't switch. However, if you really can't stop thinking about it, of course reconsider it. How long have you been thinking about this second dress? I would give yourself some time and see how you feel after a few days or a week.

    This is a tough dilemma. On the plus side, DB has 2 prices for wedding dress hems, the more expensive being $120. Does it have a train? You will have to add in the cost of a bustle. And make sure you DO NOT get a single point bustle. It won't hold and you'll have to safety pin your dress and ruin it.

    Can you really justify spending the extra money on dress #2? First and foremost, it is a single day that will be over before you know it. Before you decide, rebudget everything to see where the cuts can be made to fit your dress and alterations in. If you don't think you can do it, then you need to decide if you really need it. If the overall answer is yes, then you better come up with some creative ways to pay for it all.

    I stopped trying on dresses after I found mine because I was afraid of falling into the same dilemma.

    Here is the question.  Is it $ 700 worth of love.   I myself liked a couple of dresses at DB.  I kinda liked the pricer one ( 700) more than the the other but they were both awsome.  I thought about it and realized I would rather buy the 100 dress and savet he money that buy a more expensive dress that I will never use again.
