Worried about not getting leave

My Fiancé and I are about to get engaged ( We're just waiting for my grandmother's ring for the engagement), and wish to get married on Sept. 4, 2011. Sept. 4 is an important day for us both because that's the day we began going out. But I leave for Air Force boot camp on Sept. 21 this year, then to tech school for six months. I should get out of tech school in June, and be settled at my new base by July or August. Will I be able to take leave time for my wedding? I am hoping for about a week or two. Is that possible? Please, this is a major concern for me, any help would be very appreciated!

    Nothing is guaranteed.  I wouldn't even plan anything until you get to your unit.  There is a great possiblilty that you won't get leave right after you get there.  I have also known many people who deployed right after getting to a unit.  I would either plan it before you leave or hold off until you get to your unit.

    PP nailedi t.  There are never any guarantees with the military.  FI is currently on shore duty (he's in the Navy) so we have been fortunate enough to not wory about deployments right now.  We are getting transferred to Everett, WA in September, and had originally planned on getting married this New Year's Eve.  When we found out we were moving across the country we decided to bump up the wedding to July 30th so we were still living here and it would be easier.  Luckily we did, because after talking to others in Everett we found out that his ship is going out this month for 8 months and he will deployed about 2 weeks after we check in.  So it would have been a big problem for us if we went ahead with New Years Eve. 

    Getting leave probably wouldn't be a problem, but you never know if you will be deployed right away.  If you really want September 4th maybe you can just do a small JOP ceremony and then a big reception later when you know you can plan it.  I know that its over a year away, but you will be very busy with boot camp and tech school and planning will not be easy by any means.  And if you can't do September 4th, it will be nice to have an extra day that is special to you and FI (anniversary of being together and another of the wedding).

    I agree with what everyone has said above. My FI is in the Army and at training now. We moved our date about 3 times because of everything. After he found out his unit, he checked and they're deployed now. Deployment was my main concern when planning our wedding. So we finally decided on Memorial Day weekend. I had to give up the date I really wanted to have our wedding, to be able to have the wedding we both want to have. 

    But, my best advice (from experience)... don't let this stress you out. It will all work out.
