Anyone ever sleep walk?

M told me this morning that I went upstairs last night 4 times and I got testy with her when she told me to go back to bed

I remember none of this and I wasn't drinking other than a glass of wine at dinner.

Am I going crazy?

I remember some doctor telling me that sleep walking was a sign of extreme emotional problems. (some pediatrician, I think)

So, am I BSC or what?

Re: Anyone ever sleep walk?

  • Wow that's crazy!! I have no idea, I tend to stay in bed once I get there.
  • Not that I know of!! But FI says I yell and cuss in my sleep. Geez! At least I get my anger out in dream world.

When i was a teenager, my mom woke me up many times at night while she was singing at the top of her lungs, in her sleep, in german. :)

I have found if i have a lot of stress going on, I talk a good bit, and have woken myself up in mid conversation.

[QUOTE]:)  You're welcome. I was actually asleep, unfortunately.  BUT our parents were in the living room (where the fireplace is) watching tv.

Nope.  I do sleep talk.  Half the time, the talking wakes me up.
  • I sleepwalk. Used to a lot more as a teenager, but now it usually just happens when I'm stressed about something. A few years ago during a finals week, I woke up outside my house in the dead of winter, holding all of my covers in my arms and knocking on the locked front door! Creepy. My parents used to tell me all kinds of morning-after stories about stuff I had done or said in my sleep.

I think it's a genetic thing. My entire family has sleepwalking history.

Having never met you, I cannot diagnose emotional stuff.  But I don't think you're BSC.

    That's good to know. ;)

Let's see how I do tonight.  If you seee a newscast of a woman sitting on the steps of the Met, that would probably be me<img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-embarassed.gif" border="0" alt="Embarassed" title="Embarassed" />

This whole thread had me laughing my ass off.

My dad used to sleepwalk as a teenager, and the last time he did it was shortly after he and my mom got married, and he peed in a closet of a hotel room.  The next morning when they realized it, he and my mom figured out that my dad had gotten out of bed and walked the exact path with the same turns he would have made to get to the bathroom at home, but that route led him to a closet, not a toilet.

  • I did once when I was younger...and don't think I have done it since. When I say younger I mean about 5. I think I wanted juice or something, but when I was coming down stairs I tripped the motion sensor and the security system went off, I woke up screaming and crying.

  • I used to as a kid. My mom figured out that if she directed me to the bathroom, and I peed, I'd go right back to bed. I just got lost sometimes.

Once she fell asleep on the couch and didn't hear me go outside. When she heard me banging into stuff on the porch (which I could have fallen off of), she got the gun, and had it pointed at the door when I came back in. I don't remember anything.

Now I just talk in my sleep. DH thinks its funny. Mostly it happens when I am overtired, or really stressed.

  • We get that often. Sometimes I wonder if he is a fox/doggie cross. But..I don't think that's even possible.

I'm thinking about your nephew he's a cutie.

  • I once sleepwalked (sleptwalked?) out of a hotel room when I was a kid, went out into the parking lot and back to the locked hotel room door.  I knocked (still asleep) and my mom freaked out when she opened the door.

Read Mike Birbiglia's Sleepwalk With Me.  It makes you feel really grateful for only having a small time episode of sleepwalking.  He jumped out of a window.
