Favors

What are you giving for favors?  We're watching $ right now, and not doing much of a registry, preferring to have our family and friends come to the party, but since most are flying in from out of town/state/country, is it rude to not offer favors?   My FI lost his job 3 months ago so we're trying to cut some corners.  And does anybody have any cheap favor ideas?

Re: Favors

  • I've seen some really cute ones on pinterest. Since your wedding is in the fall you could do a smores favor. Graham cracker square, big marshmellow, smaller square of chocolate, wrap in clear packaging and tie with a cut ribbon or raffia. You ccould attach a lil note to the ribbon that says. "sending S'more Love". I've attached the link where this came from:

Also homemade cookies or treats packaged cute is inexpensive, heartfelt, and makes a great favor.

I would google inexpensive DIY favors, or look up wedding favors on Pinterest. Good luck!

  • We donated to the DFW Humane Society and baked cookies and dog treats to let our guests know. We dipped the human cookies in chocolate so guests would know the difference (besides one being shaped like a bone and one being a circle- I still can't tell you how many people asked- ugh.) In total, we spent about 20$ on it plus our donation for 150 guests. You can get celophane bags at Hobby Lobby ($1.99 ea for pkg of 100 and use a 40% off coupon). The tag was from here (click) and I printed it on cardstock from Office Depot (11$ for 250 sheets, 110 lb.).
  • We made homemade Limoncello as our favor, but that added up pretty quickly.
Plus, it was like a three month process.

That said, I personally don't think anyone would miss a favor.
  • I don't think favors are a must either, but really like the idea of something fun and inexpensive like seeds. I've seen custom and semi customoptions and the price is still reasonable. http://bentleyseeds.com/custom-packets-1.html
