Cotton... and what else?

Okay, here's the skinny.  I am defunct in the "big picture" department.  Early on in my engagement, I got this vision of using a bunch of cotton as the base for my bouquet (being from South Louisiana, it's a huge part of the culture down here).  Cue cotton mania.  Then I bought the dress, and it's a pretty in your face lace/tulle Enzoani gown.  There is a belt that I've purchased along with the dress that we've been pulling color inspiration from: dark olive, chocolate brown, and a dusty pink.

I love the raw cotton, I mostly prefer dried naturals, but I'm willing to incorporate fresh flowers in order to balance out texture and colors.  My problem is not knowing how to elevate the cotton in order to have it marry well with the formality of my dress... Help?!  My dream wedding is rustic/simple, but my subconcious is kind of over the top.

About the only raw cotton I've seen as decoration was in dried arrangements.

The belt you posted is pretty and like the colors.  I can't picture the raw cotton with the belt or a lacy dress.  I think it would be better suited to the centerpieces, and would look fine in a simple, rustic arrangement of some kind.  The centerpieces don't have to match the formality of your dress.

Have you tried an image search for "raw cotton floral arrangements"?  I saw some bouts made out of cotton.

I think something like this would look great with the dress and belt:

(It'll get a little larger if you click it).

PS, I completely understand your desire to use something from the culture. I insisted on magnolia foliage for mine even though we couldn't use actual magnolia flowers without them wilting =(
  • If you are looking for Raw Cotton, the site http://www.floralcotton.com has it.

They are very reasonable and their shipping is super fast!  They have a facebook page too.
