House Hunting

I am getting so frustrated!!!

I've looked at 6 houses here lately and there's something wrong with each one of them. Some of them have been pure trash!  Cry

we looked about three months before we found the perfect house! We got it for a great price and it was a flipped house...

so dont give up...that house is out there for you! You will see lots of trashy ones before you find te perfect house.

OMg 6 I wish we looked at 247 before we decided on this one. It is still not my dream house but it fits us for right now. Dont give up the right out is out there for you. It is a very frustrating process but so worth it to find your home. Just thought I would share :)

6 houses is not a lot....sorry to say.  FI looked at about 30 before he found this one.  And Erin (Booger+Bear) looked for like 6 months and I think had put in one or two offers before she found her current house...she could probably tell you some stories.  Be patient -- it's a long process.  As you continue looking, your realtor will (should) become more comfortable with what you're looking for and will be able to filter out houses.  But rest assured it's a great time to buy and you'll find something, in due time.

Agree with pp... FI and I have been looking for the last year - we wanted new construction only and that definitely limited our prospects.  We finally found one - you'll find yours too!

I looked for 6 months and probably looked at over 100 houses and put in offers on 2 other houses before I got mine.  It's a frustrating, stressful, but really fun process. It's like a second full time job :).  Don't get frustrated...you'll find something! I love my house and was so glad that I didn't settle until I found the pefect one!

I've now realized that I may have to fire my REA.  I've given him the criterias that we're looking for and just hate all of the houses he's sent my way.

I have a friend that I used to work with that is now a REA and he's offered to help look for me.  Honestly, there are quite a few that he's sent me that have caught my eye.  I'll try to be patient, but it's not one of my assets.  :)

Give your realtor a chance -- if it's only 6 houses, they're not dropping the ball.  YET.

What area(s) are you looking in?

He hasn't shown me any houses himself. I've been finding them all myself and going and looking at them.  He just sends me listings via email.

Doug and I hate them all.

We're looking anywhere, really.  Canton, Livonia, Westland, Novi, Northville, New Hudson, South Lyon, Brighton, Milford, Howell etc etc.
