New To VA, could use help!

I know our wedding is far away yet, but we have been playing with the idea of having a wedding here vs. having it at home ( chicago suburbs) and I am looking for all the help I can get! I wanna find a beautiful outdoor venue, a cheap hotel and a nice restaurant that can accomidate a large group of people. Any help greatly appreciated!

Is there a specific part of Virginia that you are looking at?

Check the Jefferson (downtown Richmond), Keswick (Charlottesville), or Historic Jasmine Plantation (New Kent)  if budget is not too strict.  Virginia is also home to hundreds of wineries and many of them are able to host receptions & since the setting is so beautiful you could really save on decoration!  If you're on a strict budget like me, check out recreation centers in your area (the West End of Henrico has Belmont & Deep Run) or other arts/activites/education centers in Hanover, Rockville, or Montpelier.  Good luck!

The Norfolk Botanical Gardens is a good option. They also have several indoor options for your reception too. It's not far from the airport so your out of town guests wouldn't have to travel very far for hotels, food, and things to do. The beach is only about 30 minutes away from there too so it could be like a mini-vaca.

The Virginia Beach Oceanfront does some beautiful weddings. We had ours at the Barclay Towers there and it was beautiful and affordable! There are also at least two restaurants at the oceanfront that hold smaller groups: Mahi Mah's and Watermann's.

If you are looking in Central Virginia. Check out Hermitage Hill Farm & Stables
It is a beautiful upscale horse farm and they have a great Carrot Cocktail Hour where guests can pet their Clydesdales and enjoy a happy hour. Reallly unique idea.

We are looking more South West Virginia. I know my options are ( or feel) limited in this area.
