Buena Vista Bridal Show

Did anyone attend this past weekend's event? What were some of your thoughts? I will say that I got free airbrush make-up done for foundation. I really loved the airbrush effects. I tend to be oily, and it was very light and kept me matte all day.  About Faces was the company there.  However, when she did my eye make-up I was a little disappointed.  I asked for dramatic, and all that I got was heavy black eyeliner and a little shadow. I could have done that myself, but I am not sure if that's a true reflection of their work. I saw some of their updo's, but I wasn't too impressed. Although, I know they were short-staffed and pressed for time.

Party Flavors had the most beautiful cakes ever, and it tasted awesome. I am def booking them when I get to that point.  Has anyone ever booked a photobooth or flip book vendor? Those were a big hit, but not sure if $900 for two hours is worth the money. I guess it depends what favors generally run these days. They also had this lady powdered up and wearing white make-up and clothes to make her look like a statue. It was facinating and entertaining. If anyone saw the Grecian wedding on David Tutera, it was similar to the Greek statues.

Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone else checked this out.

I went, it was my first bridal show. I don't think I need to go to anymore. I collect better information on the internet or by getting referals from friends. I'd say the most useful part of it was being able to compare all the cakes right then and there. I'd have to say that I thought Party Flavors did have the best cake. I think the flip books are an expensive favor and I'm not sure how long a guest would keep something like that.

I booked my photobooth last week. Got a great deal- 5 hours with a scrapbook for $750 (I had to haggle with him for a few weeks- he started at $1200). And its a real photobooth, not a digital camera set up with a printer. I'm using photomagic. http://photomagicofflorida.com/

Wedding is 11/26, so I'll post vendor reviews after that.

I didnt go to the big show. I went to the little one at Eagles Creek on Friday. Stayed for about an hour and then as I was trying to leave the lady at the front table was chasing me down screaming "if you leave you cant win anything!" my MOH and i just died with laughter.

I had my hair done by the about face crew and was impressed with the way it held.  Just a heads up though, I noticed that some of the girls were doing a much better job than others.  When I went up I gave specific instructions about what I wanted and the girl did an awesome job.  The girl beside me gave no direction and the stylist did an awful job without any direction!  As for the make-up portion, I didn't have it done because I wasn't impressed at all.  I would suggest going to the MAC store and asking about having someone do your make-up if you are truly looking for the dramatic look.

For the photo booth - I know a few photographers that are adding a photobooth to their packages.  Check out Sarah Bray photography for example.  We were going to have one but it's so expensive for such a small piece of entertainment so we decided against it.

I really liked Sprinkles cakes but when I went to their store in Winter Park yesterday, we had to wait for about 15 minutes before anyone even came out of the back to say hello.  They couldn't give specifics on pricing and their books of past cakes were unimpressive.  :(  I didn't see the Party Flavors place - definitely going to look into them.

I'm glad you also felt the same as me regarding the make-up. I would really want a Mac-inspired look because I like bold dramtic colors. But I doubt any of them would come to my house, plus they might flake out. I really wouldnt want to have to go to the store to get my make-up done on the day of my wedding.

Def check out party flavors. They have 2 websites, and I never seen such a huge selection of beautiful cakes. The one I tried was delicious too. I dont like super sweet buttercream or all chocolate/ I thought it was interesting how the cake vendors said they would provide a kitchen cake if you didn't want to spend SO much money on your wedding cake. I will probably invite close to 250 people. I also tried fondant for the first time and thought it was kinda gross ;)
