Song choice question

Hello! I haven't posted on this board before, but I have enjoyed reading all the good advice and comments.

For a little background, this will be both mine and my FI's second wedding. We have 4 teenage boys between us.
During the reception I want to dance with the boys instead of doing the typical father/daughter dance. I am having a hard time coming up with a good song to play for that dance. The best I have so far is "Wonderful World", Louis Armstrong. But I was hoping to come up with something a little more current, I just have no other ideas.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

What about "In My Life" by the Beatles? Not really more current, but appropriate for the dance partners you have mentioned.

As a Detroiter, you gotta love "You are the Sunshine of my Life" by Stevie Wonder too.

I'm sure others will have some recommendations.

    Good luck.

Welcome to the boards and out of hiding!

Have you asked the boys for suggestions?  They may come up with more current tunes, as well as find something that is meaningful to them.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had thought of a few of those, but some I had not.

mybooboos: I have asked them, and the answer I got was "I don't care" or  something silly.

Maybe it would be good to envision the look and feel of the dance ... sequential partner dance with each boy or group dance with all 5 ... before you choose the music.

Once you figure out what you want it to look like, ask your DJ for song suggestions that fit your vision of the dance.  Good luck!

You could try an updated cover of one of the older songs you really like.

I am a little of a offbeat bride. My band is classic rock. My kids are boy 25, girl 23, and girl 21, so dancing with them to a slow song or a song to fit was really hard.  nothing fit us. So it will be sweet child of mine guns and roses lol.    I know I know ....    but the words are great and the band already plays it.  we will invite guest to dance with us and do it later in the night .

I totally agree with the Guns & Roses, we are having a classic rock wedding too!

My son is 31 and I will be dancing to Hero with him by Mariah Carey...

    since he is my hero

In place of the father/daughter dance (my Dad passed in 2004) I am having all the kids attending - we have about 20 kids form age 9 - 18 attending - come on the dance floor, get in a circle with our arms around each others shoulders, "Dynomite" will start playing, we will rock back and forth to the beat (like you see some sports teams do) and then break into free dancing. Then the "open dancing starts."
