XP: Make up price?

I posted this on my local board, but it gets very little traffic...

Hey ladies!  I found a make up artist I really like, but he charges $175 for brides and $75 for each additional bridesmaid (this includes travel to the venue).  Is this reasonable based on your experience?  What did you pay/are you paying?

Re: XP: Make up price?

  • Looks like you did cross-post this on your local board.  Sounds a little steep to me just for makeup but that's based on prices I saw in my area.

Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • Mine is $145 for bride that is hair and air brush make up
$95 per BM that is if they want airbrush
$65 per BM for regular make up
That includes travel BUT because I don't have my suite for long enough and they are up the road by like 10 minutes we are going to the salon (which is great for a Sunday at 8am since no other place would do opening before noon)

The minimum purchase has to be $300 though to get those rates. The rates would go down if we had 5 or more heads but I just don't have a huge party. Gratuity is 18%

  • My make up artist is trained by mac for commercial prints...

She charges $55 for the bride and $45 for anybody else... She travels to us too so we're all getting ready at the hotel

  • I'm in NJ and that sounds high to me. My MUA was $90 including airbrush and lashes. She travels and may come to Philly. Come over to our board if you want... I'm sure you'll get a ton of suggestions. Good luck!

  • Mine was about 50, but it always depends on the area you're in. Have you checked around to compare prices? I would ask this of your local board for a better estimate
  • That seems pretty steep for make-up.  Mine ran around $65 but I got a discount because my friend knew the artist...if I paid full price it would have been $85.

I would do some more pricing with other make-up artists before you make a decision.

  • Thanks ladies!  That's what i thought.  I'm a little bummed cause I really liked the makeup he did, but my gut told me that was pretty high.  I'll keep looking!
