Love heels, heels do not like me..Help please:(

In my younger years I was a pro with high heels... and with a few cocktails always helped for some reason. Now I have quit drinking and havent worn heels in years, I am afraid to wear them..haha. I know sounds silly but I have this fear of not feeling lady like on my wedding day. And without high heels thats how I feel..thanks to my grandma and best friends telling me that my whole life. It's not that big a deal with my first dress but my second dress is short and I have a hard time picturing it with anything but high heels. Help..what do you ladies out there think???

  • Are you comfortable in wedges?  I find them much more comfortable (and stable) than high heels, and some are super-cute.

  • I agree with wedge heels, or a sturdy, thick heeled shoe.  MUCH more comfortable than stilettos, IMHO because you're more stable and are more comfortable putting weight on your heels.  The shoe inserts help as well.

FWIW, I'm in your same position, and I think I'm just going to say to hell with it and go for flats.  I only have one dress, though, so no one will see unless I show them.  I decided to value comfort a shade more than style.  I'm thinking something either brightly colored or sparkly.
  • I'm a heels girl, but I still ended up in flip flops on my wedding day.  I was on my feet so much, even broken in with gel inserts my shoes ended up killing my feet.  Between pictures, the ceremony, greeting guests, dancing, etc, I barely sat down the entire day.

If you're not comfortable in heels, I would find a pair of cute flats.  Your feet will thank you.

  • Ditto PP. Try looking for some cute wedges.  Of if you go with another type make sure you have plenty of time to break them in. You can also try buying 1/2 larger and adding an insert.

  • Ditto on the wedges.

We're both wearing our cowboy boots. Ever since I broke my foot I haven't been able to wear heels. Which is just fine for me - my FI is a full 15" taller than I am so heels don't make a difference anyways!

  • How about you practice?

  • I complete understand!  I HATE wearing heels!  If I wasn't so short and self conscious about my height (I'm 4'10) I would have totally worn converse sneakers under my gown!

Since you are planning to wear a short dress, you just might wanna suck it up and wear the heels even though you will be uncomfortable.

  • I LOVE heels. I wear them all the time and couldn't imagine not wearing them on my wedding day. However, I wanted to wear them the whole day, not just until dancing started. So I found a lower pair of really quality heels (leather makes a difference!) and they are crazy comfortable.

Agree with the gals who posted about the inserts, inserts are awesome.

Be comfortable and feel beautiful! (and yes, those two things go hand-in-hand) :-)
