affordable DC area photographer

Can anybody recommend an affordable DC area photographer? My fiancée and I are both pretty young and have been working on DYI projects and finding family to help with different elements of our wedding (12/31/2011). However my college friend that was going to be our photographer just backed out and we are trying to find someone. We are also starting to scramble trying to finalize plans because I am possibly moving to Chicago before the wedding and my Fiancée is in the Navy. I would love any suggestion and or recommendationThank you!

Check out Kat Forder Photography. Kat just moved here from Canada, where she already had a thriving wedding photography practice. Her rates are still comparatively low as she builds up her business in this country.

It's tough to imagine what "affordable" is for you, exactly. Everyone's budget varies. Here's the review I gave on my photographer (see my full list of vendor reviews, below):

Photography. I cannot say enough good things about Jim Johnson Photography, based in DC near the SW waterfront. Immediately after securing our venue, we signed the contract with Jim. Our package included an engagement photo session. Jim brought 2 other photographers with him – they captured all of the action, including getting ready sessions in three different hotel rooms, without being intrusive. http://picturestorystudio.com A+

I used Darrell McDavid and highly recommend him! He is just starting out as a wedding photographer so his prices are very reasonable and he does AMAZING work and is so easy to work with! He's from the Baltimore area but has travelled to DC for engagement sessions and weddings. His wife Kristin works with him and I absolutely adore them!
