Maui Photographer?

I'm going to Maui over the Labor Day weekend to do some wedding planning and was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for a really great photographer. I think we're looking for more of a photojournalistic style compared to posed photos. Thanks!

Are you set on hiring a local photographer? We're coming from the LA area and hired Jenn and Travis (www.jennandtravis) because they have a great destination package. I love that they knew a destination wedding wasn't just about the wedding itself, but the entire weekend and the community of it all. My friends used them and loved them and I love how intimate thier photos are without being staged.

I don't know if that was any help, but I hope you find what you're looking for!

Joanna Tano and Kim Aihara are 2 of the more commonly recommended Maui photographers. Both have been used by many brides with great reviews, and they have been known to work together in the past, too.

We brought ours in from San Diego because her prices and coverage blew all of the local photographers away. However, she was my second choice after booking Natalie Brown Photography in Maui. Unforatunately shehad to pull out because she was due to have a baby the day before our wedding, but she is really great. Super sweet, and beautiful photos.

Otherwise, Melissa McClure is who we used. If you have a mid-week wedding, give her a call she has a smoking travel deal.

We didn't work with him, but we did contact him during our search. He was super nice and laid back, which we really enjoyed. Beyond his talent he just seems like the type of person you'd want to grab a drink with. I think everyone on this board that has used him was very pleased.

I will totally agree that Shawn is awesome! he was the nicest most laid back guy ever and we totally wanted him to come out for drinks with us after cuz he was that great. I loved that he didnt try and pose us at all and just let us do our thing. I highly recommend him.

We hired Kim Aihara and she is super nice and friendly and seemed laid back as well. She is on Maui.

We're going with J. Anthony Martinez. This was hands down THE hardest decision to make. The photog that i am really feeling right now is Rachel Robertson but she is located on Oahu. HTH! J. :-)
