Wedding Woes

PW - the Morgan blog from yesterday

I read most of that thing.  And then had to share the story with DH.  And googled a little.  And I'm still thinking about it.

It's so weird.  So much of it doesn't make sense and I can understand why there are other theories about what really happened and what the blog is for.

Why didn't they move?  Why would they think moving would be letting the stalker win?  They said that's what the stalker wanted them to do.  What?  No it isn't.  A stalker wants you to stay so they can keep torturing you.

IDK.  I'm not even sure why it's bothering me so much.  It's just weird, I guess.

  • I missed this. Link?

If applicable, please include any warnings about dead babies or raped preschoolers.

No dead babies or rapes.  A 19yo girl was stalked for over 100 days and was found dead in her bedroom.  The coroner said it was natural causes.

The blog is written by her mother and she has been writing it one day at a time, one year later, with incredible detail.  It's crazy long.
  • I'm not finished yet (I'm up to October 1st) but it doesn't *not* make sense to me, YKWIM.  I'd be really outraged about the treatment from the coroner alone, let alone all the other crap going on.  Wish I had more time to read this...
  • Taw, I read most of it yesterday.  Well, I started doing what you were doing and skimming.  I agree it was weird.
  • The latest entry actually has them discussing moving (finally!), but that entry is for November 11th....the mother hasn't even posted up to the actual "murder" yet.

I'm skeptical, but I do believe that law enforcement may have bungled this one.

  • They moved 6 weeks after her death because it was too much to bear to live there anymore.

Yet they felt some need to force themselves to live there while their daughter was being stalked for 4 months?

  • For me, it's all the entrapment stuff.  It seems odd to do all of that, and yet, to have so very little evidence.  And while it is probably they could've had a stalker with specialty in camouflage, trail covering and all the other things necessary to hide the identity, I not sure it's very likely.

Also, when the cars come into play and it's both a man and a woman?  It just started to feel like paranoia rather than a real life threat.  I hate to discount anyone and I'd rather be paranoid and err on caution rather than wrong.  But other than the one footprint outside of the window, there never seemed to be concrete, verifiable, documented evidence (I did not read every minutia)

I wonder if Morgan might've been a very ill girl and her parents missed the signs.
  • I wonder the same things, V.

Did you read the part about how she was sick for 3 years before they figured out there was carbon monoxide coming into her bedroom?  I was very ::emu-eye:: about it.
  • I refuse to get sucked in...there will never be answers and I'll hate it.
  • Oh - I am completely sucked in now and obsessed.  My opinion has totally changed now that I've seen clips from the Dr Phil interview.  While there may have been some sort of stalking/bullying going on - my thoughts are that they weren't the the extent that Toni (the mom) is now making them out to be.  My suspicion/arm chair diagnosis it Munchausan by Proxy Syndrome - - originally manifested in Morgan's health problems when she was younger - - and now with the stalking stuff.  So bizarre!
But I still think there were major shenanigans going on with law enforcement and the coroner - not related to the mom being crazy.
  • ::nodding::

DH asked me yesterday why I was so into this story.  I HAVE NO IDEA.  It bothers me and I don't know why.
  • I also wondered about a Manchausan sydrome.  Mainly b/c some of the things complained of, some of the methods for dealing with it (really, she texted a bubble when she heard stones thrown at her window?  How did no one else hear these stones?  Why didn't she move rooms?  Why didn't she scream bloody damn murder and someone go running outside with a gun?  Why not text, wake up and run outside? Why not so much other stuff?)

And honestly, I have a hard time imaging their relationship with a normal 19-20 year old.  I was close to my parents and we probably fought more during that period of time than any other.  And who gets to text their teachers?  I thought that was weird too.

I'm not obsessed, but it's all just so odd.  I feel completely horrible for the family and for Morgan, but there is something not right here.
  • Oh and I read some of the reports on that website.  I don't know if I believe "bad" shenanigans were going with law enforcement.  I think they knew they were dealing with a not-so-normal person and trying to keep her happy, while keeping resources directed to where they needed to be...which is not dealing with the crazy people.

It reminds me of a homeless man who came into the restaurant.  The waitress thought there was something wrong with him, called 911.  The paramedics come and they know him by name on sight.  He went to the hospital, but the paramedics told us that he would fake the crazy for a warm bed that night.  Everyone knows it, but there's not much they can do to stop it.
  • V - check out the video I posted in the ::AF:: post above.

I have so many "why didn't they....." questions.  So many.

And Morgan started sleeping in her parents' closet and the stalker knew.  He started throwing stones at *that* window the very same night she started sleeping there.  Toni explained it away by saying he must have heard her say it outside an open window because she (Toni) is a loud talker.

</div><div>Yeah, I remembered that part.  It was when I read the part that they agreed Morgan would send a text bubble whenever she heard the stones at her window, after she covered her windows and started sleeping in her room.  I was just surprised, b/c I hear every little noise in the house at night (mainly b/c I get freaked out, I'll admit to my own paranoia).  I can't imagine stones and tapping loud enough to bother the room occupant, but me not hear it.  They do have a much larger house than me though, so may be that's it.</div><div>
</div><div>And the rest of it.  How did she not have the loudest damn alarm on her phone when that text message was received to wake them up and get them outside?  </div><div>
</div><div>IDK, there's just the lack of commonsense on their part, that they seem to then place the the blame at the feet of the police.</div><div>

Has Toni ever said she or Steve heard the tapping/pebbles?  Am I wrong in thinking they never did?  Morgan just told them, right?

So how come Morgan didn't ever sleep at the foot of their bed and say it through the open window?  If the stalker was bold enough to be recorded and photographed just minutes after the police leave, wouldn't he be bold enough to tap their window as well?

ETA:  Or why didn't one of them sleep in the closet or Morgan's room with her?  I'm not saying I'd be calling my kid a liar, but I'd definitely want to experience it firsthand.
