August 2012 Weddings

This MAY sound strange but....

Last week, I tried my wedding dress on the for the first time and need only about 3-4 inches off..well, when my Mom mentioned 'depending on which shoes you pick out'...it hit me! I want to go barefoot!! My mom is all for it! We sat and discussed how many times have you been to a wedding and either never saw the shoes or just a glimpse because pretty much everyone is looking at your dress..I had a friend get married last year in her grandmas back yard and she went barefoot! So being that it is August and we would be kicking our shoes off once we got into the reception (as most I have seen do), I really do think I just want to go barefoot! I always have my toenails done with a french manicure so why not? Like I said in the topic...this MAY sound strange...LOL!

  • I don't think that sounds all that strange... definitely more comfortable! Plus, if you somehow change your mind, you can always slip on a pair of flats or sandals, no problem.

  • Doesn't sounds strange to me... I end up barefoot at all receptions.

Only way it would be strange is if you're outside and the ground is muddy!
  • I wanted to get married barefoot at the beach... so I see the appeal! Not strange at all

  • I don't think it's strange but something that's been mentioned to me multiple times by past brides is how much your back and feet can hurt by the end of the night if you don't have shoes with proper arch support. And it wasn't coming from women wearing high heels, this was from ones who wore ballet flats (think like slippers rather than shoes with a hard sole) and flip flops. May be something to keep in mind!
  • I don't think it is wierd, especially if you are getting married outside. I love being barefoot outside in the summer. Just be careful, depending on where you are, you don't want to step on a rock or something sharp or stub your toe or burn your feet on hot pavement (all things I have done). Even a minor injury will be a pain on your wedding day.

  • There's nothing strange about it.  I attended a wedding last summer where the bride didn't wear shoes for the ceremony or the reception.  Instead she wore foot jewelry.  It was very pretty and she was comfortable all day and didn't have to worry about her shoes hurting her feet or her dress being too long after she took her shoes off.  Here's a link of something similar to what she wore.

  • Not strange, especially not if you are having an outdoor wedding!! :)  You may want flip flops or something for the dance, just so you don't get stepped on..
