Planning Chicago wedding - 1st visit

Hello,

We're both from Texas and plan to have our wedding next Summer (July 2013) in Chicago. I am going to be in town next month (3days) to:

1. talk to wedding planner
2. check out the possible venues
3. church visit

What else should I plan to do on this trip? I would love to be productive because it's not easy to take off work and go on a trip for wedding planning.

Greatly appreciate any input from Chicago brides.

Katie

  • I feel like having the venue locked down really needs to be done before anything else. The other thing.... which I think you might have already started to do is get your guest list together. That will help you decide on all things really because size of the wedding determines which churches / venues will work best for you.
  • If you're planning on having a local photographer, you might also want to schedule meetings for that.  Most everything in the city books more than a year out, so you'll want to be quick.  Can't really do the other vendors (florist, DJ, catering, etc.) without the venue, though.  Good luck!
  • If you know your date....I would definitely schedule ALL vendor visits while you are here.  At least you can meet the vendors initially and if you like them you can book them later.
