I killed Mr. Lisa's Sony Reader...

Damn!  Almost everything electronic I touch these days is going down in smoke.  A few weeks ago, Mr. Lisa loaned his Sony Reader to me (I asked him to buy a book for me).  Apparently, you're supposed to actually turn those things off.  Ruh roh ...

I am very embarrassed.  Embarassed

On the up side, he no longer uses it daily.  It was his go-to toy when he had the long, twice-daily train commute.  I gave it to him when they first came out.  He was the first one on his train with one.  So ... now I need to find a good replacement.  Any suggestions?  Should I get the latest, greatest Sony Reader?  Or something else?  Decisions.  Decisions.

I have a color nook.  LOVE it.  Mr. Handfast has a kindle.  He prefers my nook.  The nook is backlit, so you can use it in the dark, with no other lighting; you need an additional light for the kindle.  I can download magazines into it, in full color.  I have just started my first subscription in it, so I'll see how that goes.  Because the nook's software is not proprietary, more libraries are using the nook's software, (from what I've been told--I have no scientific evidence of that :-).

The nook color has wifi, so Mr. Handfast and I go to restaurants, or to have coffee and peruse home listings in our search for our next house.  Very helpful to have this in color, and no need for a laptop, or a service as is required by a netbook.

And here's the best part of the nook (although I think it's true for the kindle, too) you don't have to turn it off!  It goes to sleep, and then you just wake it up when you're ready to read again.

I have a Kindle and LOVE it - it's so easy on the eyes, much like paper.  Even my 73 year old grandma likes it (she just got one).  And the charge lasts forever!

DH is totally opposed to getting an e-reader, he likes the experience of holding a real paper book. I mostly agree, I probably wouldn't spend the money for a nook or kindle honestly. But my new laptop came with a free e-reader program on it, and I ended up downloading the free kindle e-reader program for my laptop because I hadn't realized that that was actually available, lol. I like it for the times when I've already browsed over the internet several times and I'm out of ideas for what else I can do, lol.

Yeah ... this was the first time I used the Sony Reader and, clearly, not successfully.  I have a hardback copy of the latest Vince Flynn on the bed and David Baldacci waiting on the bedside table.

Here's the deal with the e-readers, that you can't do in paper, glue and string. Enlarge the font.  Very helpful.  That's one of the reasons why they're having a small surge in those of us over 50 in sales.

Mr.Angie and I have a Kindle we read them nightly and they are great for trips!

With my eye allergies being able to enlarge the font is a huge bonus!

We both have nooks.  DH bought mine for me last year, and to be honest...I didn't want it.  I have, however, grown to love it.  I love that we can share books.  I love that I always have the three books I'm in the middle of reading in my bag.  I love that I don't have a ton of read books laying around my too tiny house.
