Heat Help!

I am getting married September 1 in Baytown by the water. Without thinking about the heat, we scheduled out wedding that day at 6 p.m. Now we are really worried about how hot it will be for our wedding party and guests. We don't want to put a tent up for the ceremony as it ruins the view. Any suggestions as to how we can eliminate the heat?
Our reception will also be in the same location, outside. We are looking at renting a tent for that. Any suggestions for expensive tent rentals in the area? Thanks!

Re: Heat Help!

  • I don't know how you can help the heat for the ceremony.  You can just hope that by 6pm, in september, the heat won't be that bad.  You could provide cute little fans (I know some brides have their programs printed as fans).

For the reception, obviously the later time, the tent, and cold drinks will help.  You could also provide big electric fans if you have a way to hook them up.

  • Agree with PP.  I would consider getting fans as your programs to help, during the reception guests will have cool drinks to sip on.

  • I've seen several photographs of outdoor weddings where the bride and groom provide cool drinks in pretty containers for the guests to sip on to keep cool during the ceremony.

Here's a link to a photo that I thought was pretty when I was considering an outdoor ceremony.

We got married Sept 2011 and the weather was cloudy, it rained in the morning but it stopped at 5:30 which is when we got married. September weather can be tricky, I'd be worried more about rain than heat.

  • Thanks for the ideas everyone!!
  • A few ways you can help the guests is by providing water, fans, and umbrellas. Other then a tent these are the only ways I know to help. Hope this did you some good. Good Luck!!!!
