  I think the pop up book might get ripped up within a week.  My stepdaugher just turned 3 and a year ago she would have had that thing in pieces within an hour.

  
  

  The game might be a better choice then the pop up book.

  If she is only just turning 2 than an game might be above her.   Though the pop-up book could easily get ruined.

  
  

  If you want something interactive, I think the I Spy books make board books.

  I have a 2 1/2 year old boy. hes into mickey mouse, blues clues, thomas the train and we just entered legos. this time of year maybe an outdoor toy like a bubble machine? my kid loves bubbles. or like sand pail set or chalk, or a golf set. I like the idea of an ispy book.
  
  I bought my son dont break the ice and he loves to break the ice so an adult may need to put it together every 5 minutes. there are also some cute preschool games out now. theres wack a mole that she may have a ball with or there is this cute red rover game where you scatter toy bones with various colors and the dog says what color and the kid runs and finds the bone and feeds it to the dog and the dog spins or something.

  As the parent of an almost 3 year old boy, I strongly suggest something little for the party, with a gift card in the card.  That way her parents can decided between the game and the book. My son got various books and games at his 2nd birthday and they're mostly destroyed now...
