Has anyone used snowdrops?

Hi all,

Having a November wedding, and I'm trying to think of a substitute flower for white tulips--I want something very sleek, sophisticated, and perhaps a bit glamorous. I'm carrying calla lilies myself, but got to thinking that snowdrops (or white hyacinth) might be a good idea. Just wondering if they're in season and if they are too informal-looking... Open to other suggestions as well! Here's the overall feel for the reception (notice the tulips in cube vases):

And here are the photos of snowdrops and hyacinth:

Well both tulips and hyacinth are definitely spring flowers.  You would probably have some luck finding tulips because your florist could have them brought in from Holland but that will probably cost you.  The snowdrops typically grow in the winter (around the beginning of the year) so you may have issues finding these as well.

As a substitute you can always go with the good standby of white roses.  You could also use white lisianthus (soft and pretty), white alstromeria which I think look really interesting all bunched together, white hydrangea, and you could even use white carnations...when bunched together they don't look like carnations but rather add an interesting texture to the table.

I agree with PP- snowdrops are typically late winter/early spring and tulips are spring flowers. You could try to force bulbs, but I don't think it would be worth the work to do so (plus it can be unpredictable). You could use stock, freesia, delphinium, gladiolus, dendrobium orchids, larkspur, star of Bethlehem, white godetia, lisianthus, etc. I would talk to your florist and see what they are able to get.
