Northern Michigan (Traverse City/Manistee) Wedding Suggestions!

Hi!

I am planning a wedding in Northern Michigan (a small lake town 45 minutes south of Traverse City) for August 2012.  I currently live in Chicago and would appreciate any suggestions on bands, photographers, caterers, transportation, etc. 

I want the wedding to be upscale but casual and fun.  The band is extremely important to me!

Please feel free to leave any suggestions--they are much appreciated!

    We're getting married in three weeks at Ciccone Vineyard in Suttons Bay. Ethnic Garden Catering (Peggy Donaghy) is EXCELLENT. Great lady, amazing food, reasonable price.

    Also, Andy Wakeman (photographer) has been a pleasure to work with as well. 

    Houdek's has a great trolley that we've rented that's reasonably priced. Only thing with them is, they just started the trolley side of the business, so call Houdek's Pumping to inquire.

    My fiance and I are getting married in Traverse City in Sept 2012 and haven't picked many vendors yet, so I'm curious to see what responses you'll get here.  Besides venue (Hagerty Center), we've picked out a photographer (Michael Murphy IV), and I've been really happy dealing with him so far.  

    If you haven't already picked a photographer, check out the spreadsheet just posted in another thread.  It looks to be pretty exhaustive, with lots of details.  Huge resource.

    Seems like there's no shortage of Chicago-dwellers getting married in N. Michigan.  Our photographer told me that my fiance and I are the third or fourth couple from Chicago that he has booked for next year.  Maybe it's partly b/c there are so many Michigan ex-pats in Chicago.

    TRAVERSE CITY - HOLIDAY INN WEST

    WARNING - I just spent 4 months negotiating our contract only to find out that they are likely being bought out and they decided to cancel our contract and have to replan my entire wedding. Beware!
