Hair trial disaster....

So I had my first hair and make up trial yesterday.  My make up came out great and I really liked that the makeup artists that is doing it will come to me.  She is amazing and did an awesome job.

Now on to the hair trial.  At first I really wanted to wear my hair up but after thinking about it every time I have had an updo for any of the wedding I have been in I ended up not really liking the way it looked.  So I decided to do a trial with my hair half up and second trial later on with a complete updo and then decided which I wanted.  Yesterday we tried the half up.  I took in some pictures and discussed them with my hair dresser the problem is I have very fine hair and even though my hair is pretty long I don't have a lot of hair for her to work with because it's so fine.  She did this bump thing on the top and sides hen curled the back when I first saw it I didn't love it but I didn't hate it either then as the day went on and I started looking at it more I began to hate it.  I feel like I looked like  klingon from Star Trek.  I still have another trial for an updo but what if I dont' like it either?  My hair is just so difficult to work with.  I'm really stressed out about this.

Any one out there that has really fine hair that may want to share how you are wearing your hair for your wedding.  I'm just so worried.  I paid a lot for my photographer and I want really good pictures.  I don't want to look back and be like ugh my hair looked awful that day!

  • How long is your hair?  Could you have extensions put in to thicken it up a bit for the wedding?  I am not a ton of help bc I have super thick hair but my moms is really thin and fine so she often would have a hard time getting hers to do anything.  There are some cute ideas here.

  • I agree with the extentions....what kind of hairstylist are you seeing? Maybe you should pay a little more to see a 'master' stylist.  Normally they have the best experience and can give you more advice!
  • I have fine thin hair and my hair stylist says I should be fine. I am doing all up just because I know in the heat that if I left half of it down then the bottom part would just fall out quickly.  I agree with Andrea in seeing a master hair stylist because they would be able to give you tips on how to do it and they would probably know how to work with your hair type better.

Are you considering using a different hair stylist now? I would compare pictures of what you showed her to how it actually turned out and see if you think it's your hair that's the problem, or if the stylist just didn't do a great job.

I have fine hair that is pretty long, and I'm doing half up half down. Like you, I don't like how I look in pictures with it all up. I haven't had my trial yet, so I can't really help you, but I do agree with PPs about extensiions. I want to add a few just for thickening purposes (I'm happy with my length). It also helps the style hold, apparently.

  • Do you have any pics? From your description, it sounds really cute. But, you've got to like your hair. Are extensions an option? Not to add length, but to add some thickness? There are clip-ons that would probably be less expensive than actually getting them weaved it. (I don't know anything about extensions, so excuse my lack of teminology.) I'd talk to your stylist about it.

  • agre with the others about extensions. My hair is VERY fine - but it is so long, it goes down close to my butt - so what I lack in thickness, I make up for in length, so the bun in my updo was still really, really full when I had my trial.  I considered half up/half down, but decided I would be too worried about curls falling and getting sweaty, so I am now just doing all up. Do you have pictures that might help?
