Friday Wedding

Who's getting married on a Friday? What are your thoughts on a friday wedding? I loved the LA River Center but they are all booked for Saturdays in the summer next year. So now I'm thinking of a Friday but Im still not sure.

I'm good with a Friday wedding as long as it starts after 6.

I got married on a Friday at 4:00 this summer, and it was great. But we DID have an unusual situation which made it different than the typical Friday wedding with mostly local guests.

All of our family and most of our friends are from the east coast, so they had to take off work and travel anyway....Friday vs. Saturday was not a big deal, since they had to take at least 1 day off from work anyway, and just did that on the front end of the trip. We didn't have a single person from out of town not come, for that reason (of course some couldn't afford the trip, etc, but that would have been the same anyway).

We were lucky in that all of our local friends have flexible schedules- my workplace closes early on Fridays in the summer, so my coworkers were free. My other friends are teachers, and were off for the summer. Husband is a grad student, and we got married at his school, so his friends/coworkers were able to take off the afternoon (the whole lab closed down and attended!).

So basically, it worked out perfectly for us, and we got a great deal on our venue because of it. We couldn't have afforded our dream location on a Saturday, so that made it worth it.  But if you have more typical local guests with normal jobs, definitely plan on a later ceremony so that they can get off work and navigate Friday LA traffic!

I had a Friday wedding with basically the exact same situation as the Knottie above - mostly out of state guests traveling in for the wedding and friends that could take off.  The ceremony started at 4 (I believe) and I would say that it only resulted in about 5-10 people not being able to make it because of work.  Hope that helps!

I'm having a Friday wedding because of the same reason. There were no Saturdays available! I didn't really want to, but I started to ask my friends and they weren't opposed to it. Now, I kinda like the idea of having a Friday evening wedding. Ours is going to start at 6:30pm! HTH!
    Good Luck!

Attended a Friday wedding of a friend this past summer she and he had a wedding cruise around Newport Harbor.  I just took a half day at work so it wasn't a problem, and to think about it, you have the WHOLE weekend to enjoy the after wedding bliss.  Tho I also attended a Sunday morning/afternoon wedding which was splendid as well.  Good luck!

I'm having a Friday wedding that starts at 2:45pm and no one is having an issue.  It's gonna be fun and the vendors usually give you a discount for it.  Good luck!

Me! :) Im having a Friday night wedding -- Im only inviting close family anyway, so people are really making it a point to come, regardless. :) Friday weddings gave me bargaining advantages too.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your input. Have a great day. I think we probably will go for a Friday Wedding unless I look for another venue.
