First of all, let me say that FI has already proposed: he asked, I said yes, it just didn't involve a ring or anything like that. He brought the subject up, asked about setting the date (June 2013), and so forth, so yes, we're engaged, I simply don't have a ring. FI has told me that he has been looking for something specific, and tonight finally told me what he was looking for because he's gotten so frustrated that he can't even find picture examples to take to a jeweler.
He says several years ago he saw a set that consisted of the two people's names, and they were interlocked. He remembers that there was a diamond as well, but not how it was put together. Obviously, it had to have been a custom piece, but he was hoping to at least find some type of picture or way to better describe it to a jeweler. I've been thinking about it for the last couple of hours since he went to sleep, and all I can think of is maybe it was a solitaire for the engagement ring, and a wrap with both names for the wedding band, and that maybe he just thought that the names somehow interlocked together. As he described it, he thought that the woman's name was the e-ring, and the man's name the wedding band, and that somehow the names interlocked, and there was a diamond in there somewhere. (Yes, this is how he described it to me.) The man's wedding band either has both names, or just the last name, he couldn't remember.
Anyone heard of anything like this? Anyone have any ideas on how this might be done? I'm trying to get a mental image of this type of ring, and the ideas I have go from really pretty, to really scary.

So far, the wrap idea is the one that seems to work the "best" in my mind. Has anyone seen anything similar?
