Honey Moon Ideas

My fiance' and I are looking foward to spending some quality time together after the wedding but with starting a new job we decided to do something local.  I need some romantic getaway ideas near Chicago travel.  We prefer to not travel no longer than an hour outside of Chicago.

I don't know where you live in the city - but why not just stay downtown?  Treat yourself to a nice hotel and dinner and do something that you normally wouldn't!

Lynfred Winery has a cute bed and breakfast and it's about 30 miles west of the city.

DH and I stayed at the Herrington Inn in Geneva, about 45 miles west, after our wedding. It was beautiful, there is a wonderful restaurant at the Inn and a nice spa if you're splurging for massages. It's also close to all sorts of pubs and shops.

It's a little further, but you can also check out southern Wisconsin and hit some breweries, like New Glarus, or enjoy some time in Lake Geneva and do watersports and stay at a B&B or see if there is still fruit picking or hit the wineries along the southern Michigan wine trail.

Southern Michigan has a ton of bed and breakfasts on the lake. Pheasant Run resort in St. Charles is nice, and about an hour away, but I think a fancy hotel downtown is the best idea.
