    Why's it only gotta be brides?

    Anyway, I'm Scott. My fiance (Jaquelynn) and I are getting married May 29th, 2011. It was going to be at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens, but we recently decided to shift it to beach wedding/backyard reception. Doing this allows us to save a little money, have a less formal affiar, and actually invite more people.

    About 8 months ago we opened up ShutterBooth Hampton Roads, so we've been on the wedding circuit for a while. A lot of the vendors you guys talk about have become friends of ours, and hopefully we've become friends of theirs. It's a little strange reading reviews and whatnot here, but it is why I registered, and if I can plug my business on the boards, so be it.

    Love it! There isn't much more that I like to talk about, but I know its a little much for friends and family. Who better to chat with, than other BRIDES who feel the same?! I love advice!

    I know! I feel like there is so much I could be doing...I'm just not sure what it is! 

    The Gazebo at Fort Monroe is an awesome location. I was thinking of having my wedding at the Chamberlain at one point but Ned didnt want everyone to have to go through the tunnel.

    So how much do you have done for your May wedding? Do you have a Wedding Planner?

    Im glad to meet all of you girls! Im going to be coming up with little activities to help us get to know one another, and hopefully get more Virginia brides involved!

    Melissa, Oh I wanted to get married at the Chamberlain but it is so expensive!

    I'm doing all the planning myself. So far we have the photographer booked, Gazebo booked, Bay Breeze Community Club. We have tasted cupcakes from Carolina Cupcakery and will be booking them as a mondern twist on cake. We have quoted DJs, and Ceremony music. We have our STDs printed and have started looking at invitations. So we dont have THAT much done.. we are mostly looking and quoting!

    BeccaBec, we have similar colors! Green and navy just looks so great together!

    Dreama - I know, I considered navy and pink too, but I just thought navy and green look so sharp together.

    Oh, and Carolina Cupcakery is sooooo yummy!  The cupcakes at your wedding will be a total hit.

    Using Cupcakes vs. Cake is about half the price! Plus you don't have a charge for cake cutting. You should check Carolina Cupcakery for sure if you love cupcakes that much!

    That was my original idea, but I'm using Cheesecakes by Mrs B. She comes with my wedding package and she has phenomenal reviews both from people I know and on the internet. I have a tasting next week to decide my flavors. We're doing a 3 tiered cake- 2 layers traditional, 1 layer cheesecake. And she told me she refuses to use fondant...Which I'm actually happy about. I think fondant tastes awful.
    ...Thats actually one of the best things about using cupcakes--No disgusting icing.
    I will take your advice and visit Carolina Cupcakery for my own satisfaction, though!
