Stop inviting people!!! Vent!

I love my man to death but he keeps adding people to the list. Invites went out June 1st. A steady stream of RSVP's are coming back all accepting no declines. Every time we go somewhere  and someone says congratualtions FI will say to them, "Oh I need your address so I can invite you to the wedding!" WTH!!!! We have 7 people on the waiting list and now these other folks are bumping them. I had to write out two more invites yesterday. One of these were for his cousin in NO. Out of towners should have gotten an invite a while ago. This couple is known for bringing the whole clan with them, so I suggested filling in the number 2 on the RSVP card. FI says leave it blank! MY budget is 80 people, anyone over that will come out of his pocket! WHOOOOSAAAHHHHHH.

  • AH! That sounds sooo aggravating. All I can think of is just keep pulling him aside and explaining how that is not even a possibilty. You have to stay within your budget!
  • Have you told him you hit your budget. He needs to learn to just say thanks. Everyone doesn't need an invite

  • He knows all about the budget! he is the one who didn't want to have a big wedding. I keep telling him HELLO STOP INVITING PEOPLE, he says he will pay for them. Dude that isn't the point.

  • Maybe you could approach it from the perspective that it is really rude to have a B list or waiting list, and people's feelings might get hurt if they find out they weren't originally invited. Just say something like, "Invitations have already gone out, so you need to stop inviting people that we those not to include. Imagine how Joe would feel if he found out he was just invited as afterthought and didn't make the original guest list."

  • OMG my fi does this and we had to write out like 5 more...ughhhh irks my nerves because he told me had everyone down he wanted to invite....I feel your pain
  • FI's mom wants to add people, and we already sent out 139 invites, and the room only holds 130! (Good thing I checked before sending out more).
  • Mine too!!!! Girl you are not aloneCool

  • I got you beat - me and my fiance work together but in 2 different departments. He's be there for 8 yrs and me almost 2 - so he feels bad that i didnt add EVERYONE to the list so now he keeps giving invitations to people that I dont know, never had a conversation with - and now i got random people coming to my office saying thanks for the invitation... I think i hurt this 1 ladies feelings today ( I was sending a email and she comes in my office to say thanks and before i knew it it said - YOUR DIDNT GET A INVITATION...)

" Greg gave it to me" she replied

I'm gonna choke him!!!!  I GUESS HE'LL BE WORKING OVERTIME!!!!
  • FI and I had this conversation, we ended up compromising and inviting the people! We are making our own food, so budget isn't necessarily the issue.  Our big thing was, "do we really need to invite them?", we ended up inviting everyone off our families lists!!  Yikes!!
