How much for DJ?

How much did you pay for a DJ? I don't know what a good price is in Dallas area. Any recommendations? Thx!

I paid $1500 in 2009 but he has gone up since then.

I think average is probably around $800 or so but you'll find some for $500 and you'll find some for $3K.  IMO, I would want to stay in the $800-$1k range for someone of good quality.
  • I was quoted 500-2000 for a DJ. My DJ was 800, but I am sure her prices have increased since I booked her 15 months prior to our wedding.

I'm not so good with the advice... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?

  • I paid $800 for ceremony and reception, but like Wendi, booked her back in 2010. I feel she was on the "cheaper" end, but yet extremely high quality, and one of my favorite vendors! The other DJ I was seriously contemplating was $5,000.

Hee, my first choice in 2009 was $3K--wonder if it's the same one?!
  • I'm using SoundMasters DJ and Entertainment. I'm paying $900 for both ceremony and reception. I just booked him so this is his most recent prices.

That's crazy! I'm getting a band for that much!
  • Andy Austin is who we were going to go with. He had done my cousin's wedding, so I had seen him in action and knew he was good. That said, for the price difference, Melody was just as good, and honestly, probably fit our guests "personality" better. She just doesn't have the marketing he does, but that's why she can price like she does!

Mine was Tommy Evans with Specialty Sound.  Even though I told him right away I couldn't afford him, he still talked to me on the phone for 30 minutes telling me what to look for when I started meeting with DJs.  I thought that was really cool.

But yeah for half that price I got Glenn who was awesome.
  • I paid $1250 for my DJ, with an extra $500 for some lighting stuff.

  • She hasn't! That's what I paid!

  • My DJ was $900 with no lighting equpiment.  We were able to get a discount for paying in full, and got the price down to $800.  I'm using JaBel Productions.

Im paying $500 for both ceremony and reception. Im including videos and lights with my package. They are D&D DJ Services. He is really nice and was very attentive to what I wanted. 214-536-9712. I think he is running a special now though. Also, he mentioned to me that he is the select vendor for DISD schools so I was able to get references for his work.

Hi Kelly. My fiance and I were lucky enough to stumble upon a company called DJ Connections at a bridal show in Irving TX. We LOVE them and we are only paying $700 total for our package. Our package includes, a DJ, and MC, special lighting for our dance floor that has our names in it, and unlimited hours for the day of our wedding. Now we got some promotional deal too because we had met them at the Bridal show, so I can't say that they would give you a similar package for the same price, but the service is worth checking out anything I think. We are VERY happy we chose them. They have been a step ahead of us this whole and they are the ONLY vendor that we have hired so far who has been this way. Even if we had to pay more for their services I think I'd still do it because you can't put a price tag on service like what they give. When you finalize with them and put your down payment down, they send you a little spread sheet of the service you want, a run down of your package, etc., along with a MASSIVE list of the most popular music that is requested of them, a planner on how to pick your music for each thing, a planner on how to put your ceremony and reception together, and then they also schedule several meetings throughout your engagement to actually help you plan these things and get it all alid out in cement so there is no confusion as to what is going to happen when. I love them. I wish our other vendors would provide such excellent service because then maybe this wedding would less stressful then it has been.

    Here is there information.

You can probably find them on here somewhere too because I know they were voted "Best Vendor" one year by theknot.com.
