Amanda's Bridal

Hey guys I just feel that I need to share todays experience at Amanda's Bridal.

I went to pick up Bridesmaid dresses for my Best Friend's wedding that is on 10-10. Initially the Bride loved the dresses so very much that she bought one for herself as well!

BACK STORY: Due to when we came in (End of July) they told us that we would have to pay an extra $40 per dress for a rush order. Sucks! But oh well so we did. We ordered 3 dresses and it was a HUGE fight to get the sizes we wanted. Initially they told me I needed to order a size 18 when I wanted a 12, and they told the Bride that she would need a size 20 when she wanted a 14. The third dress was for an out of towner so we just told them the size. After LOTS of arguing they finally let us order in the size we wanted.

OKAY on to today:
I picked up the dresses and was automatically set off that all 3 dresses were there. We payed the extra $40 for 2 because of the upcoming wedding but we said that the third could just come in whenever because my wedding is not till March. I was told that "sometime they just come in." This pissed me off because now I feel that we were made to pay the extra $40 for no reason on the other two dresses.

First I notice that all the sashes were White, (suppose to be 2 blue, 1 white) when I say something they tell me its Blue. I am not color blind. They say its a different "hue" of blue.  I ask to see the book on the dresses and it IS NOT BLUE, they say it could take up to a month for the right ones to come in, I say forget it we don't have time.

Next I check sizes, 1 size 12 good, one size 20 good...wait 2 size 20's???
The decided that the bride was wrong on her size and after her specifically telling them (and writing) for them to order a 14 they ordered a 20!

When I complained they said "oops, we can discount the alterations a bit", I wanted to scream! Instead I grabbed the dresses told them there was no way in hell I would do any further business with them including alterations, grabbed the dresses and walked out the door.

EVERY interaction we have had with these people has been horrible! They are unprofessional and manipulative. I highly suggest that you avoid them at all costs.

OH and guess what.... my size 12 fits perfect! Good thing my future MIL is a seamstress and can fix the other dresses!

    Ugg, so sorry you had to deal with that! I miss real customer service! There are still a few institutions out there the believe when you pay that much for something you deserve something amazing. I hope the rest of your wedding journey is smooth sailing.

    So sorry to hear of all your frustrations.  So sad that customer service has gone by the wayside.

    I'm ordering my dress from D'Aneli, going in to get measured in a few weeks.  I think I'm more stressed about this than anything else, because I don't want to have to deal with them trying to tell me to order a dress that is way too big to begin with.  I understand that they order the size according to the largest measurement on each person, but really.  I have my fingers crossed that it will all go well.

    Yeah, Something like that happened to me.  I order an hair piece along with my veil in may.  The lady was very rude when I was trying to order them.  I had just gotten my dress in that day so i guess all the big money to be made was done.  Any who she said that they would most likely be in, in July.  I called 10 weeks later, on a non weekend day.  And I got met with rudeness again.  Convo went something like this...
    Hi my name is Jessie ******
    Sales lady: What do you need?
    Me. I was wondering if I could check the status of (cut off)
    Sales Lady: Of what, Dress, Bridesmaids dress, what?
    Me: Of my Veil and hair piece.
    Sales lady: They are not due to come in till Sept!

    Aug comes around: Get a call my veil came in.  I go in to pick it up and ask about the status on my hair piece.  They look it up, and say it doesn't have a date on it yet.

    September 13: I call them AGAIN, wondering where my hair piece was.  Told them I order it in MAY, and it has taken longer than my dress did.  Lady said they were going to call the company and ask them.

    I get a call two hours later saying:
    Umm, it got in, in JULY! ( When I first called and was met with rudeness) They said they had order 5 of the same hair piece and mine came in with it! They just never put my name on it. So they had it the whole time.  Well the important thing is that i got it! I guess sometimes these things happen. But it seems like they are happening to you guys too.

    Sorry you went through that. I feel your pain.

    Well, I thought they were great and helpful when I was looking at buying a dress, it is just after I bought my dress, they went down hill.  It was like, yeah, now that we made the most money off of you, pffft, don't need to have good serve any more.

    Thank you so much for the reviews!  I was planning on taking bridesmaids there to look at dresses but after hearing about these issues, think I'll go elsewhere!

    I bought my dress there and went back this past weekend to try it on again to show it to my aunt.  They were SUPER busy, all rooms taken, but they were amazingly polite to me and were very apologetic about me having to wait.  The woman who helped me initially was there and she gave me a big hug and stopped to chat real quick, which I appreciated.  Some people don't realize that on Saturdays, places like that will be busy, which is why appointments are a good idea.  They were busy, but I (as of yet) have NO complaints about their service or committment.  I guess you can get bad service anywhere.  Remember too, "please and thank you" get you a long way.  I've been on the other side of the counter and a lot of times, people demand things instead of asking.  Be nice, but firm and you'll find you get much better service than you would as the shrieking harridan!

    @snwdngo- Quick question for you.  Did they write down size 20 on the paperwork that you initialed and signed or did they write 14?  If they wrote 14 and you initialed it, then I'd say you have a solid avenue for trying to get a refund/ partial refund.  Just something to look into, if you want to.

    SOrry you had a crappy time, I got all my dress through them and have had no problems what so ever. It does seems like some of the girls are a little more "helpful" than others but they have been awesome with me. I can't complain about it. I have my next fiting possible the last here in a couple weeks, Im super excited

    I am not saying not to go there, because they are really good for the price.  With my case, these things happen.  I guess everyone can get a little rude from time to time, there is only one lady there that was the rude one.  The rest of the girls were fine.

    I would like to say that one lady there is amazing.  I think her name is Jan. But she was only there twice when I was.  I would see if you can work with her if you go there.

    Look I have no clue who you are, but its awful fishy that your first post on this board (or ever) is trying to discredit me.

    I have been on they board for nearly a year, and given great vendor reviews in the past (JasonG best photographer ever!)

    BUT you have absolutely no right to come on here and question MY credibility. I seriously think you need to reconsider your actions.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Apparently after reading this post Amanda's Bridal would now like to speak to me, I plan to return that phone call today and I will let you all know how it goes. I am glad they are not just ignoring it all.
    We bought my daughter's wedding dress and all bridesmaid dresses at Amanda's - they were great!  The prices were great and our salesperson was great! No challenges at all. I recommend them highly. The alterations person was great too! The wedding gown only needed a bustle and a halter strap and it was done very easily and reasonably priced.
