Western WI Outdoor Wedding

I'm looking for ideas for cheap places in which to get big tents, tables, and chairs for an outdoor fall wedding and reception in Western, WI. And any other ideas/suggestions you have for anything else! I am very new to this whole process, and I am finding it a bit overwhelming to say the least. We are having a very simple wedding and reception. Need affordable ideas!

I found that if you have to rent a tent, tables, chairs, linens, etc.  You have a good chance of spending as much as if you had just rented a venue.  My main suggestion is to do your research.  Get on the internet and google rental companies, church halls, public buildings for rent, etc.  Price out a few options.

Where in western WI are you?  If you are out by Hudson, I'd suggest using the Minneapolis/St. Paul board too.  They get more traffic.

My biggest money savers were doing DIY flowers.  I ordered in bulk from fiftyflowers.com and flowersandfreshness.com and assembled myself the day before.  We also skipped favors, limo, fancy toasting flutes, aisle runner, and any other 1-use item (like junk that says "Bride on it).  Our meal options were chicken and vegetarian (no beef, pork, or fish - cost an extra $5-1$10/pp).  Some people do pastas or BBQ for a less expensive option.

Hope that gives you some ideas.

  • Agree with PP.

Our "venue" is free, but the tent and rentals will cost us more than some venues. We are getting married in Viroqua, but our caterer is from Richalnd Center. She only does buffets, but all her homemade food is costing us $10 a person! Paula White 608-549-3202.
We are also DIYing flowers, invites, and decor.
YOu can also check with a church or town hall near you and they may rent you tables and chairs cheaper than a rental company.

  • Depending on what you want to spend, I had my wedding at the Still Farm in Downing Wis.  We had our wedding and reception in the barn.  Basic Barn rental is $2000.  Check it out.
