Tips

Hi ladies,

Just wanted to find out about some tips and whether or not I need to worry about them.

Venue (includes cake, dj, and linens) they have an all inclusive package which includes tax and gratuity already so am I good there?

Photographer - Husband and wife who own the business and do all the work themselves, never a stand in sent or anything of that sort so they are getting all the profit from it.

Officiant - Charging us 200 to do the ceremony only, not sure if we should tip him anymore?

Hair & Makeup - I am having a hair trial in about 2 months which is 100 bucks and than she is doing my hair for the wedding at 150 bucks additionally. It was originally supposed to be the owner but she is going on a honeymoon so she is sending her assistant.

I am so confused on what gets tips and what doesn't!

Re: Tips

  • Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds to me like you only need to tip the hair and makeup artist and the officiant.  You typically should give something extra to the officiant (we're giving it to the priest for his 'discrentionary' fund - which goes to any current issues or organizations at/with the church that are in dire need of assistance.)

  • Our venue has tax and a "service fee".  This is not considered gratuity and we were advised it's our discretion whether or not we tip over that.  I think it's a rip!
  • Good call punky - it probably depends on the venue, because our gratuity is considered the tip at our venue.  I would simply ask them.

  • Same as PP, you should tip your officiant, and makeup artist. Our officiant is a friend, so we are getting him a gift. Maybe tickets to a game or something...
