Guest list is DONE!!!

I am so relieved!!  After months of begging my FMIL for her list, she finally finished it over the weekend (thanks to FI for putting the pressure on!!) and we officially have our entire list ready!  This means I can finalize my invites and start printing them off! (DIY invites with my friend)

This is seriously the biggest load off of my shoulders that I've had in a LOOOOONG time!  So glad I don't have to go all WWF on my FMIL!!  Thank goodness for small favors!

Re: Guest list is DONE!!!

  • I wish we could get ours finished. FI is dragging his feet and when I ask him which of his friends have kids and are they invited and should we invite them he just looks at me weird. So it seems my biggest dilemma is if we should invite kids with exception of our nieces and nephews.

I totally understand...we were in your shoes a few weeks ago.  We finally decided to only invite adults, with the exception of close cousins, nieces and nephews, and we're passing the word around and wording our invites as Mr. and Mrs. rather than with "and family".

I don't think there's anything wrong with only having your nieces and nephews, but the major consensus seems to be not to have "no kids" on the invites, which makes sense. When is your wedding?

  • I was still adding guests a month and a week before the wedding for people who got "missed" thanks to my FI.  My mother is freaking out that people haven't RSVP'd but I keep telling her that my knotties say its normal :)

Oh I'm definitely expecting a little bit of this as well.  Our case is a little different...more than 2/3 of the wedding is my FI's family...my family is extremely small and with our friends its still pretty heavy on his side, so if they have any "extras" that they forgot, they're going to have to figure out who they want there more because there is no more room for extras...we kind of did it this way so that they couldn't just keep adding more, because if it was up to his parents we would have a 500+ guest list!

My wedding is June 14, 2013 and 80% of our guests are out of state. So that is making the kid decision difficult because it's not always easy to get a babysitter for that long and travel. But if my FI doesn't give me the info that I need by the time I need it the invites will only be addressed to the adults. I refuse to keep hounding him about it. I don't have the patience and he knows it.

I totally understand!  I was so sick of asking my FMIl that I told FI if you don't handle up on it, I will be making the invites out and I get to make the final choice...which of course I didn't want to do , but it was just so frustrating!  Hopefully you will get your number soon...I literally hounded him for a month before he finally put his foot down...this part of planning is so touchy so it's hard to sit down and say "yes" and "no" you know?
