5/20/2012 Wedding Reviews - Part 1

I know some of these may be VERY long, but I’m paying it forward because if it wasn’t for this board… I would of never had such a great day and that’s because of the great vendors I used from previous reviews! So THANK goodness for this board and please feel free to ask me any questions J  THEhotel A++ – We were confirmed for a standard suite but they checked us into the “M” suite on the 62nd floor. I was exhausted as it was midnight by the time we got up to the room… but the view and the size of the room made me all giddy! The free upgrade was soooo nice.  We switched to the “T” suite on the 4th day and wow! What a nice room! It was on the 60th floor over looking the strip – just beautiful. We also had the adjoining king room so hubby could get ready the morning of. The suite was so big we actually laughed and said – holy it’s a long walk to the bathroom! There is a guest bathroom in each suite as well. Housekeeping was AMAZING to us and cleaned our suite while our ceremony was going on. They were right outside the room ready to go in when I was leaving to go down for the ceremony. We tipped them very well! Guest Services, Bellmen and Check in/out were all super friendly. We were treated like a king and queen. We didn’t have a chance to go to the MB pool, but we gave my MOH a key and she said it was fabulous. There’s no ipod docking station and no microwaves in the suites. We rented a small (and it’s small) fridge for $35 a day. Each room has a door bell! ** good to know – THEhotel doesn’t charge the resort fee… at least us and a few of the guests that stayed there weren’t charged… maybe it’s for MB only…? **

Clark County Marriage License – C – We went on a Thursday afternoon at 3pm. The pre-application was super easy to fill out and I was all happy to use the express line. However... we showed up and stood in express line behind a few other couples and there were only 2 people behind the counter and they kept taking people from the regular line. Every 3rd time they would call out to the express line. There were couples who showed up 10-15 minutes after us and were in the regular line and we served before us… didn’t make sense. But we got our papers and that’s all that matters.

Fit for a Bride – A++ - I dealt with Donna the whole time and she was so sweet and so easy to deal with. Dropped the dress off with the bellman on Thursday morning and FFAB dropped it back off on Friday morning. Looked fabulous! Never would have guessed I had it shoved into an overhead bin on the way down!  $70 for my dress, $15 for MOH dress and $25 for suit/shirt/tie and $30 for pick up & delivery.
Hospitality Services at MB – A – Super easy to deal with as I only set this up 2 days before the wedding. I wanted to have some breakfast items for the girls and guys getting ready in the morning. Originally I thought I’d just get my mom to run down to Starbucks and get some stuff the morning of… but the hassle was going to be a pain and I wanted everyone to have fun the morning of. I ordered 1 dozen croissants/pastries, 1 dozen assorted cookies and 1 dozen assorted breads (banana, blueberry, etc) and 12 assorted juice. This cost $363.00 – which included a gratuity and $50 set up fee because they set it up all fancy on a rolling cart.  I nearly fell over when she said the price… but again didn’t want to have to think about it the morning of. Ended up having a ton left over… but I was happy there was something  Liquor Store – A (Across from MB in the McDonalds Plaza) – We didn’t have a car, so we walked over to this liquor store. I brought my suitcase as my hubby didn’t want to take a cab. We made 2 trips… the second trip we took a cab. On the first trip over we ruined one of the wheels on my suitcase from dragging it on the pavement and from the weight of the booze. Worth bringing the suitcase – not worth dragging it back to the hotel ourselves.  We spent $260 total as we were afraid we’d run out of drinks – we had people up to our room the two nights before the wedding. We had soooo much left over. We had to leave a lot in the room because we just couldn’t bring it all with us.  We also bought one of those styrofoam coolers there and it was perfect to bring ice into our suite and store drinks in.

Pam @ The Palette – A+ – spent $391 for flowers in the suite and for 2 corsages and 2 boutonnieres (for the parents). They were gorgeous! She is so sweet and super easy to deal with. She even gave me some white rose petals and 2 vases to put my and MOH’s bouquets in. Very thoughtful J Everyone commented on how nice they were.  The Cupcakery – A+ - I dealt with Stephen Lowry from the Eastern Store. I had 60 cupcakes delivered to the hotel for $197.00  - I asked them to leave 20 out so I could put them out on a cupcake stand I brought with me and the others were in little Chinese take-out boxes. They were a huge hit! I was very happy! We went with the Southern Belle (red velvet), Strawberry Shortcake and Oh My Gosh Ganache!.  We went to the store in Monte Carlo and tried out a few cupcakes and called Stephen 2 days before the wedding and gave him the flavours we wanted to have. I was worried because there was no contract… only emails… but everything was perfect.

Freed’s Bakery – I wanted to mention that in my early research with cupcakes I corresponded with Max from Freed’s Bakery. He was super nice and funny. But their prices were at least $100 above the Cupcakery.

Love you reviews. Just had to comment how there is something so WRONG with your alcohol costs being so much less than the cost of doughnuts, bread and juice cart....!! Dang casino resorts!

Ditto kris...I always wonder about prices. Thanks for your reviews, esp. for TheHotel. I'm torn between them, Cosmo and Hard Rock.

I loved both THEhotel and Cosmo. I would say it depends where you would most like to be - south end or mid-strip... :) Every room in THEhotel is a suite though which is really nice if you have people over to your room...
