Baywood CC

Hi Knotties!

I'm considering having my wedding next year at Baywood Country Club in DE, and am looking to learn the good, the bad, and the ugly before I commit to the venue.  It looks like a beautiful venue but I've gotten mixed reads on how accomodating the staff there is, and am also concerned about how good the food is (they do not do tastings).  Has anyone had their wedding there (or know a friend who did)?  If so, would you mind sharing your experience?

Please feel free to email me off list at lexsquare at gmail.  Thanks!

I was the MOH for my friend's wedding there, and it was lovely. And they did do a tasting, which I attended.  I'm not sure if they've changed that since then, but they definitely had one, and got to bring 2 guests.
I was not the bride so I can't tell you much more than that, but I can tell you my friend had no complaints.  The wedding and reception were both beautiful.

    Baywood is absolutely gorgeous.

I've not been to a wedding there so I'm not sure about the food, but it strikes me as weird that they wouldn't do tastings.  Are you sure about that?

I know that several things are included in the package there, like centerpeices and flowers.  That could be a good or bad thing if you don't like their selection.

Agree - it's totally gorgeous, so maybe i'll just have to suck it up.

but yeah they told me when i went a while back that they do not do tastings, and they also said they typically do not close their restaurant that overlooks the ceremony area, which means you could have a whole other set of people watching you get married.  kinda weirds me out...

gmcr -- did you notice this when you were MOH in your friend's wedding?

There were people up above on the patio but it's far enough back that you won't notice it.  We started the procession at the top of the stairs from that patio.
The wedding started in the afternoon sometime so it wasn't terribly crowded up there or anything, so unless you plan to have it right at dinner time you're probably going to have a thin crowd up there.  Trust me, it didn't put a damper on anything.
They must have changed their policy on tastings, because my bride definitely had one and I got to go with them.  That's weird.  The tasting took place in that restaurant part which opens to the patio with the stairs.
