Venue: Skansonia Ferry w/ Great View or Lake Union Cafe with half view but nicer interior

Help!  I am evaluating the Skansonia .... a ferry drydocked on Lake Union with an outstanding VIEW and the inside is 30's decor which I like, but it is sort of dark and since I am getting married in May, there is every likelihood of rain in Seattle.  The Lake Union Cafe is about $1500 more and the inside is so beautiful and it has a nice view of Lake Union, but it is not as great but the furnishings are stelllar!  Any thoughts

Its up to you and what's most important to you, your style, etc., but if you can afford it, I'd say Lake Union Cafe, especially for a May wedding.

We checked out Skansonia and thought it was pretty with the view and everything but not the decor inside wasn't what we had wanted. But FI's friend got married there and their pix were beautiful. :) The only complaint they got was the parking and how they had to park on the side as their lot was small. So either one your heart is set on. I've never been to Lake Union Cafe but have heard good things about it.

I have only seen pics of the Skansonia (it looked great) but I can tell you that I am so glad I had my reception at the Lake Union Cafe!  You're right - there's only a partial view of the Lake.....but the inside decor is so beautiful.  I am so happy to have chosen it!  We had our reception at night - so the view didn't really matter to us.  Let us know what you end up choosing!!

I'm having my wedding at the Lake Union Cafe in May.  I didn't really consider the Skansonia because I also thought the interior was dark.  I'm betting on needing to have an indoor ceremony, and I didn't like any of the indoor Skansonia options.

I think if you can afford it, go with the Lake Union Cafe.  It's just gorgeous, and Dann the event coordinator is fantastic!!

Thanks!  We just looked at Ray's Boathouse and it is so very affordable and you have to be in and out in 4 hours.  Then we're going to the Blue Ribbon Cooking School right down the street which is right on Lake Union and does the WHOLE THING including wedding cake.  My dad is insisting on paying, even at my age, so I would really like it.  But Gary and I really like Art Deco.  I got kind of petulant that everyone liked Ray's boathouse so much, but they don't even have a piano and I intend for much music.  First Bridezilla moment today, I guess!  Thanks for the advice!

I'm having my wedding at Ray's Boathouse in November.  They have been fantastic to work with.  They are affordable, the view is fantastic, and you can get more than 4 hrs, it is just an additional $100 (I think) per hour.  We also changed our time from the evening start of 6 pm to 5 pm to accomodate the November sunset so if that is a consideration they have been fabulous so far.
