Wedding Cake

I'm planning my wedding in ABQ next summer.  I would love any recommendations for cakes.  I would also like personal opinions on cakes by Karen (she goes by a different name now).

Thanks

We used Cakes by Karen for my daughters wedding and it was terrific.  We had a 3 tier cake with real deep red roses in between each tier.  She set it up on a table with little twinkly lights all around the base.  It sat in the corner of the reception hall and was really a focal point.

We had our cake and cupcakes from Karen, but they go by A Cake Odessy now.  We did cupcakes, a cutting cake and a groom's cake.  Everything was so pretty and tasted fantastic.  We received a ton of complements on them, people were saying it was the best cake they had ever had at a wedding.  I wouldn't recommend anyone else.

We just had our wedding Saturday, and used Cakes by Karen (now Cake Odyssey). Everyone loved our cake. It was exactly what I wanted, and there are so many amazing things they can do with cakes. I would highly recommend them.

I am getting married this July and we are using Patissere C. We went to 3 cake tastings (including cakes by Karen), and I've been to a ton of weddings- and I have never had cake like Susan's at Patissere C. She is the best and has great filling flavors. The cake is sooo delicious!
It blew us away and we are still talking about how excited we are for our wedding cake- I will make sure I have time to eat a slice!

Also, when we went to Cakes by Karen they were calling us the wrong names, turns out they booked the appointment wrong. So we had to wait for an hour, then the next weekend they called because we "no showed" then we had to tell them we already met with them. We had a consultation with Karen's husband and he was nice, and the cake was good- but it was nice to talk with the Susan at patissiere C because she is the one who actually makes and delivers the cakes so she had a lot more information and input for us.

We use Unique Cakes by Karyn for our wedding 3 years ago.  It was great cake but very over priced (IMO).  I've since had several friends and both my sisters use Say It With Cake (well, one sister is getting married in a few months but I'm sure she'll be here w/a report) and it is amazing.  Much more reasonably priced and absolutely delicious...I've had them do our birthday and anniversary cakes as well.
Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

I did cake tastings with Cakes by Karyn, Patisserie C and Say It with Cake (as well as ABC.

ABC's cake did not taste good.  Cakes with Karyn didnt really give me great customer service, and we weren't wowed by the cake.

I have been a Say it with Cake fanatic for a few years - but the tasting they gave me, they clearly used lard - which was different than the recipe they had been making - i dont know if they were just trying to cut costs or what.  It did not taste good.

We ended up using Patisserie C - great great tasting cakes with great tasting fillings.  Im excited to see the cake on Saturday

Using Say it With Cake. In fact, we use this place for EVERYTHING! Birdie is fantastic. I may be wrong, but I heard that these people worked with Cakes by Karen and ended up branching into their own company. Much cheaper and A+++ work.

Just a Bite bakery taste amazing but I just want to warn all brides that they are horrible! I purchased a cake for 100 people.  There wasn't enough cake to feed 30 people. The venue had to cut the cake slices paper thin in order to try to feed 45 people. I was so upset! Don't go with them, they are a rip off! I didn't even get to eat cake. No one did! It was so upsetting and embarrassing.
