Outside Venue?

I am in search of a local venue that would allow a tent to be set up for ceremony/reception. We are paying for the wedding and everything ourselves so it would be wonderful to find a venue that would allow for a tent outside for a rental fee and perhaps outside caterers? Does anyone have any recommendations of nice venues that are rather inexpensive? Thanks!

Is there any particular reason you have your heart set on a tent? There are plenty of venues with outdoor ceremony spaces and/or outdoorsy reception options... but I don't know of many that would just let you plop a tent down on their land. Furthermore, event-sized tents are hellllla expensive... so if you're on a budget... it might be better to look for somewhere with indoor and outdoor spaces available.

Gibbs Farm (in St. Paul close to the U of M campus) meets this - for 2012 they are requiring that you rent the tent from Midway Rental and that you use licensed caterers but they are open to who. But definitely do keep in mind overall costs - we looked into the venue, and the mangers were super nice, but for the price of the rental, plus the tent rental, extra chairs, etc it really wasn't any cheaper than places that had indoor and outdoor.  Not sure what areas you are looking, but Maple Grove had a couple parks that had inside shelter/buildings but also outdoor.  They book pretty far in advance though (if you want a summer Saturday.)

If you would consider a similar option I suggest the Town and Country Club.  They let you have your ceremony on their grounds and cocktail hour as well.  Then you can move inside for dinner and dancing.  They were AMAZING to work with and once inside the HUGE windows make you feel like you are still enjoying the outdoors.
