TGIF!

Wow what a long week it has been.  My body *hates* this late sunrise / early sunset crap.  I feel tired and BLAH all the time now.   I have 2 rants this morning:

1.  Dear Intern-Seeking-Full-Time-Job: Good morning is not GM.  Thank you is not Thanx.  Please consider refraining from using your shortcuts until at least after I offer you the job.

2.  Dear "Giving Tree" participants: I understand times have been tough.  I understand you would like to give your children a fun Christmas experience.  However, having your 8 year old girl request 'nail polish KIT or MP3 player" doesn't really compel me to participate.  I never got presents growing up.  I *still* don't have a nail polish kit.  And you should be reading, not listening to MP3s.

Ugh, why do I feel so grinchy?  Tongue out

How's everyone else?  hahahaha.  Methinks I need a vacation.  Or just a drink pls.

Morning Tanq!  Its been a while.  I feel kind of selfish, I've been off most of November and this is my first full week back.  So I feel compelled to complain about wanting to go off on another vacation.  Especially since I don't like the holiday chaos that consumes my life around this time of year.  Other than that I'm just peachy with the exception of the crazy winds that are whipping through and making tree branches moving targets in the streets.

We just went though a gift giving activity as well, in my office though it is for needy kids.  When I read how one kid just wanted boxers then I knew that this was someone I wanted to help.  Another kid just wanted something warm to wear.  There were a couple that asked for any type of jewelry as well as make up and MP3 players.  But I just focused on the ones that asked for things that we took for granted.  Anyway I am so happy to have Friday here.

I do agree this early sunset business has my body out of whack.

Haha @ The MP3 comment. I guess that's this era. I read WAY more than I listen to MP3s but I guess when I was that age I would have preferred the MP3 player.

I'm with you too, the lack of sunlight these days is so draining. It feels like midnight at 5 pm. How is that okay?

It's SO busy right now and I'm just so burnt out. I can't wait until the holidays and to get a break. I'm done with photo sessions until next year, so that's good... but it's insanely busy. I worked late every night this week except Tuesday, when we got Sherlock. My birthday was Wednesday and I left work to go teach and didn't get home until 10 PM. Fail. Last night I worked late too. Tonight I have a nail appointment following work, but then I get to go home to hubby and a snuggly cat. Saturday I work the Towson playoff game, and Sunday I work Redskins.

If Towson wins tomorrow, I don't get a day off until Christmas day, so I'm going to really really really be rooting for them to lose. Right now, the 10th is my only day off until Christmas day (I work a half day on the 23rd, and about 14 hours at Redskins for the Christmas eve game).

    I NEED A VACATION!

Class ends on the 21st and I can't wait for the 5 week break until Spring semester! Really though, I just want to fast forward to summer because February - May is just as busy as Fall with Lacrosse season, photo sessions picking back up, and yet another semester of teaching.

    </whiny rant>

Damn Brea!  You have been BUSY!  Craziness.  Hopefully this all tapers soon and the last few weeks of the year get quiet.  I have to admit, I'm a bit excited to do Christmas cards this year.  DH made them using a custom design (a play off our wedding logo) and the letterpress he built for our invitations.  We're going to enclose some photos for the friends that were at the wedding.  Hopefully everything will be gorgeous.  Time to dust off the calligraphy skills, too.

Lyn, I totally agree with you re: boxers and warm clothes.  I think I will go back and look more closely and find some worthwhile ones.

Oh, and Brea, this is for you: Tongue out

    Wow everyone is so busy.

Tanq, I agree with the MP3s and Nails except on one level. How old were these kids? I know that there are teens at my daughters school that just want to fit in and would love a simple MP3 so that they feel accepted and part of their peers.  I do agree with the book giving though.  We have raised readers, probably living behind a Barnes and Noble when they were little helped, and they love getting books as gifts.

Brea, your kitty is sooooo cute.  We have two resuce cats that love to cuddle and it is so worth it this time of year when we are just relaxing and they join us.  I will try to post pics later.

We have been taking a wedding break lately due to some choices we have to make.  I was promoted at the beginging of November but at the expense of another long term employee, so its been a little bit overwhelming. With my new position I need to be around at the end of the fiscal year, which brings us to the choice.  We can still go to Maui for the wedding, approximately 5 days, but they have requested that I not take my two weeks vacation until next fall.  I am dissapointed but I also don't want to rock the boat on this one.  I also feel thankful that I have a good job and that I can make these choices.  FI is beyond dissapointed.  He says we have everything printed and that it is our date.  I would rather move everything to the fall and have it be relaxing and stress free.  Anyway things are a little tense around our house right now.  I know it will get better and we will figure it out but it just s^cks to deal with it so close to the holidays.

Oh on a happier note. My daughters wedding is paid for and for the most part all of the DIYs are completed.  Our goal was to be able to enjoy the holidays and their "Honey Time" just before the wedding and it seems like it has all fallen into place nicely.  I will post a few pics when the big day happens, of course with her approval.

Hope you all have a good weekend!

Oh Tanq that's so uncool! LOL

The cat is adorable in the picture with its big sad eyes.

FS-- sorry to hear about your shortened trip but any time to Hawaii is better than no time!

FSF, I'm so sorry to hear about the changes in plans.  The great news is that at least the change is due to a promotion.  I know your DH is frustrated, but actually 5 days in Hawaii is still plenty to be paradise.  I would take the rest of the year to save up for a really amazing 2 week honeymoon in the fall, and hopefully with your new salary, you can afford a bit more of a splurge.  PLUS, that will be nearly 3 weeks off for wedding stuff, which is pretty awesome.  We had nearly a 3 month gap for our honeymoon and while I was disappointed initially at the time of booking, I was actually so thankful to have the opportunity to come home, unpack, clean, and regroup a bit from wedding mode before jetting off again.  Just my $0.02.  Congrats on the promo!

Brea, heh.  I know, the sad eyes are so sweet.

Oh Brea, i'm with you on wanting holidays.  4 more weeks of school till Christmas.  I'm in a PD at the moment, in a huge conference centre and about 500 other teachers.  I hate days like this cos I find I never get anything useful out of them.  We're in the back corner and can't understand anything from the speakers.  However, we're in the back corner, and I have been catching up n my French Uni homework (only 6 weeks behind - it's an online course) and watching Roller Derby World Cup on line!!  Canada just killed Sweden!!  It's making the day better.  :)

LOL kje.  That is exactly what I would be doing.  And surfing.  And posting on TK.  And catching up with everyone via Facebook.  Sometimes I think about how life would have been before wifi and smart phones.  I mean, SERIOUSLY... lol.

My dad used to say the iPhone was clearly invented by a man who was tired of waiting for his wife while she shopped.  He loves shopping now because he just sits in a the corner and catches up on everything, LOL.

Someone say surfing?!  Where do you surf?  FI introduced me to surfing and I introduced him to SUP.  hahaha....

Surfing the web.  :)  SORRY for falsely exciting you.  I did surf once, in Hawaii, on one of those quadruple-thick foam boards.  Standing up is so hard to do, but so, so exhilarating.  I have wanted to try it again!

    Tanq- You make me laugh!

Lynn!!!!!! I've been wondering where you've been!!! Glad to see you on the boards.

Brea- Damn! You are busy! I think you need a vacation to Maui!

FSF_ Congratulations on the promotion. You should keep the date, go for the 5 days and then go back for a 2 week honeymoon.  I get that it sucks to split it up; we had to do it, too.  But, in the end it's better because you get to go twice! Right, Brea?

kje- I'm waiting for the holidays, too.  I keep telling myself just 3 more weeks and then I will have 11 days off!

I don't think there is anything new and exciting with me. Still working on wedding stuff and the house.  FI is almost done with both bathrooms.  Except for the floors.  We are going to do those later.  He's going to be done with the other stuff by the end of this weekend.  I can't wait!

Looking forward to this weekend, though. I just want to be able to sleep until 8! ha!

Haha, you are really trying to get me to Maui!

It can be an anniversary/birthday/I-worked-so-effing-hard-this-year-I-deserve-it trip! Not that it will happen, but I'd love to dream about it. I'm just really bummed right now because the in-laws want to take us to OBX next summer, meaning that's our summer vacay. Steve is going to be working the Olympics that year, so between those two, his vacation time is gone. We're planning California for our two year anniversary, so who knows if we'll get back to Hawaii before we try for kids. :( I'm so, so bummed.

ETA: I love my in-laws and I love OBX, don't get me wrong, I am SO appreciative of them taking us on vacation with them... I'm just disappointed that it means no Hawaii.

Haha they would not buy that. They are trying to do a big family vacation with all of us "kids" and we're the only ones that could actually afford it.

It's also quite a bit cheaper for OBX. Okay.. A LOT cheaper. We all drive and then it's about $2k for the 8 of us to share a house for the week.

What is it about this time of year that just seems to scream burn-out?!? Yikes, I'm wiped.

Sooo... we moved into a new place yesterday. It's amazing, but a disaster zone right now. I'm kinda horrified as to how much stuff we seem to have amassed since our last move. Thankfully, my little brother came to town to help us out, so it only took 7 hours. I took the day off today to try to continue to get the place sorted. I've got the cable dude coming (well, he called an hour ago to say he'd be here in 10 minutes except... that was an hour ago!), and am on hold with what feels like 15 billion companies in an attempt to get my address changed on all our bills and forms and stuff. And, of course, you only make it to hold if you're lucky enough to be able to navigate the automated answering system without getting disconnected in the process. Yeesh.

Alyson, ugh, I totally sympathize.  Moving is one of my least favorite activites.  However, YOU HAVE INTERNET!  I always measured 'moved in' and 'moved out' based on where I was logged in.  First login from new home = moved in.

Hopefully you get things sorted quickly because we'd love to see photos!!

Hi Kimmy!  I've missed you ladies.  I am happy to be home but not at work.  For the better part of November I was in the Canary Islands on a family Holiday with FI's family from Denmark.  They are some drinkers let me tell you.  But I got to SCUBA dive and in return consented to hiking a volcano so it was quite fun.  Now I'm back and ready  to tackle the holidays and the rest of the wedding planning.  Though I think my biggest concern now is to book the condo.  Bleh.... I have been on contact with several condo owners but I think the Holiday season makes it hard to communicate so I'll try again after the New Year's.  Kind of crazy how I went from 17 months to just over 6 months now.  Stuff is getting real yo!

That aside, the house reno has taken over my life.  I have all the appliances for the kitchen but no kitchen to put it in.  First year in my life that I don't have a kitchen to bake holiday treats.  I am bummed.

Wow Ladies! Glad I'm not the only one...my week has been so busy that I didn't even get to read this until Saturday!! Work has been insane this week and on top of it the head of my dept had the head of HR come and lecture us on how we all need to be working way more than 40 hrs always even though the company claims it strives for a work/life balance. We also got lectured on how it is better for us to work from home when sick rather than actually use our sick days...such BS!!!
On top of that, I have to do my performance review, review my peers, do an online work training and pass a certification exam for the course, finish 2 projects all in the next 2 wks. I am soooo tired and just want to sleep and not do anything.

I really need a serious vacation and I will kinda get one over the holidays but now I am finding out that my mom is going to make FI & I help her declutter and organize her house over the holidays....soo not what I want to do with my days off. Kinda makes me think about moving to a tropical island in the middle of the pacific where I don't have to deal with all this nonsense....Maui sounds perfect :-)

Hope everyone's Saturdays are going well
    Anniversary
